Your questions are valid. Some people (as above) want an OE look. Others just want the car to work. I think it's a waste of time and money, to swap the entire transmission when there much easier, less expensive solutions that work just as well. I'm still searching for the exact car/price I want. I will either be buying a track pack '16 and upgrading the electronics inside, a tech pack '16 and adding an external cooler, or getting a 17 with both tech/track (yes, I know track pack goodies are included).

While I want the car to look good and to work well, I won't be attending any shows where someone is inspecting the originality of my trans pump. I'll be doing laps around a track smiling and waving as I fly by. :)
Go for a '17. Keep both hands on the wheel when you're tracking :D

Just ordered the new Transmission Cooler Scoop from Shelby. Of course, it is on backorder because they've sold out. Anyway, they tell me it should ship next week.

My next track day is at PBIR here in FL on Feb. 16. I will be able to tell immediately if it has any impact. The car has been VERY consistent in going into limp mode. Session 1; 14-15min. Session 2; 12-14min. Session 3; 9-11min.

The guy at Shelby said that they felt it 'resolved' the problem.....as in, it didn't go into limp mode with the new scoop. Not sure it is that good, but we will see.

My need is to get through 20-30 min sessions in the summer. So, it doesn't have to improve by much to meet my needs.

Agreed. The deal of the century right now is a 16 tech pack. I got mine a little below MSRP, but now you find them for significantly less. I personally like the small decklid spoiler rather than the spoilers on the 16 track/Rs or the 17s, especially the R wing which looks ricer IMHO, sorry it just looks ridiculous. To each their own. Whatever makes you happy. BTW, over 2000 miles on mine now, daily driving it, rides up to 1.5hrs, highest tranny temp was 199 in August in Florida (imagine would be 160-170 if I had the cooler). I will never put mine on a track, so no desire for a rear diff cooler. Will eventually do a tranny cooler myself, have a lift in my garage.

Feb is still cooler than when most were tracking their cars?

But I am still interested in your results

Why wouldn't it be good? It drops the trans temp by 15-25 degrees.

Yeah, I'm watching the prices as I finish up my garage rehab. I'd like to get it done before bringing home a new car. I would prefer the equipment list of a '17 but my favorite color right now is DIB, plus the prices are a few thousand lower on the 16s. But yeah, if I can warm up to Ruby Red or Lightning blue, a 17 (or even an 18) would be the easy way out. I'm in no rush and still have three Mustangs at home to play with.

My only problem with the scoop is that if doesn't solve the problem......that is money that could've gone towards a known solution that does solve the problem. Good luck though and thanks for being one of the testers of it.

Someone already posted test results with real track data. It works.

No offense to them or you, but I'll wait until more people have them and there are tests in the summer heat (on a track) to see if they really work.

I found essentially the same results whether running sessions on a cooler evening (65deg, no sun) or on a FL summer oppressively hot day. 15min into session 1. 13min into session 2. 9-10min into session 3. My experience is the ambient temperature had little noticeable affect. But this is my "seat of the pants" scientific data logging :)

You had one during the summer? I didn't think they were released until a couple of months ago.

I'd obviously love for it to work, but it just seems too good to be true IMO.

Edit: Nevermind, I see you are posting your data for when it goes into limp mode without the scoop.

Sorry, I should be more clear. Those are the times it takes to go into limp mode with my '16 Tech Pack car. Stock. No mods.

I'm hoping to get through a 30min session with the Cooler Scoop without limp mode. Will test it at next track event in Feb.

Bad news, if the Cooler Scoop works, is that I'll be able to complete 30min track sessions. That means my tires and brakes are going to wear at faster. Stock tires have done pretty well holding up to short, 10-15min track sessions.:headbonk:

I realized that and edited my post. Thanks for the clarification though.

The other problems are good ones to have. :D:cheers:
