So last night I went to Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro Va.

Elevation 1276 ft. DA was around 2500 I believe yesterday. Ambient temp low 70's. I had a 70 mile drive there and no cool down time. Intake air temps were around 110 in staging. Not sure it matters as my driving was very bad initially.

Me; EB Premium with PP Manual trans. 100% Stock. On 1/2 tank 93 Non-Ethanol and all factory equipment in place.

It's an 1/8th mile track so sadly no 1/4 mile times but I was just having fun anyway.

Background. I'm not a drag racer. I've done bikes in the 1/4 a couple times before but this is the first time I've had a car at the strip.

So my reaction times and launches were not good IMO. No excuses just a realization that I need some driver mods in this venue.

I ran 4 times.

First time I got caught out while staging and was really slow off the tree. Then I bogged it and actually had to push the clutch back in to get moving properly. Rookie move.:headbonk: Oh wait I qualify as a rookie. Reaction time of 1.21 and no recorded 60 ft. Time of 9.4896 @ 80.93

2nd Run. In an effort to not bog I spun and wheel hopped badly. Time was even worse. 9.8631 @ 78.417

3rd Run. More spinning and wheel hop. 9.6215 @ 78.43

4th Run. Finally hooked up somewhat better. 2.184 60ft and et of 9.1751@ 79.879.

Here are the slips.

I really did enjoy going there. Think I'll keep going until I'm confident and comfortable getting good launches and then head down to one of the 1/4 mile tracks in the area and see what I can manage.

Nice times! They have charts that convert 1/8 times to 1/4 times to give you a somewhat general idea of what the 1/4 times might be. The next I go to the track will be my first, can't wait!

Don't worry about reaction times. Take as long as you need to launch smoothly and consistently and those times will drop nicely.

you did great for your first time out. I have to launch my 5.0 from idle or else I just wheel hop.

Thanks for the replies. My goal is just to know I'm getting the most out of the car. Right now it's driver limited.

Plus I need an outlet. If I plan on keeping my license that is.

I thought 3.73 gears would not be as snappy as they are. I was going to get 4.11's later, but I am pleasantly surprised with the 3.73's. I had a '71 351C Mach 1 with fac. 3.91's and it was very fast from 0-120 MPH. I find it interesting that anyone would have to use 5th gear before the traps. I personally rev my car to 7,000 RPM's when "exercising" the eng.

I also had a '69 Boss 302 and it redlined @ 7K. Can someone tell me where I can get a DVD that has all the details & specs of my 302? Does this eng. even have 4 bolt mains? HOW is it different from the 2013 Boss engine?

Thanks all.
