At first the light stayed on. Changed both oxygen sensors and now the light is intermittent. It doesn't stay on as long as before. Any ideas? Don't have scanner and not a mechanic perhaps Autozone will scan car for free?
Any other possible Solutions?

Best thing to do is try and find a place that can scan it for you. How is the car running?

There is another way to check what code it is.

The car now actually rides smooth. Just at start up the "Check Engine Light" comes on and then the idle drops and car dies. This doesn't always happen but it's strange. Once car is warmed up the "Check Engine Light" comes on less now since I have changed the spark plugs. Now I have changed the distributor cap and rotor. Next week I will be getting those Ford Racing 9mm spark plug wires just because it has been awhile since those wires were changed.
Maybe Autozone does free scan tests?

Eww... OBD-I, or EEC-IV for the techy guys. Those things never go off unless an emissions system is failing or something is really FUBAR.

Advance Auto Parts will do a free scan. How many miles are on your car?

I was having problems with my 88GT and changing the spark plug wires immediately cleared up the issue. I guess after 25 years & 28K miles it was time to change the wires!
