I am not sure "every" set of 17's are going to clear, but all of the offerings from Race Star do.

Mike
Good to know! I'll check Race Star for the wheels.

I was looking at some MSW wheels, they are thick at the hub and tapper towards the rim where they attach. I am assuming any clearance issues are going to be the caliper contacting the spokes more than the overall diameter hitting the rim.

After looking at winter tire prices I would like to go 17" to save some money. Looks like I should be able to get a package with 235/55-17 tires for less than $ 800.

Correct. You need something that can handle "high pads."

Not really. My tire shop had some problems to find a set what did fit right away because I needed a set with winter tires right away here in Canada after delivery. Some 18" did clear on front of the caliper but stuck with the wheel inside on the caliper. Only two wheels did clear with spacers. I had to go with the most "ugliest" wheels because the other set did clear the caliper by only 1mm. I didn't like to risk that my wheels are frozen to the calipers at - 30C and I would have to call a towing truck.

So depending where you drive, you could be happy with wheels they fitting tight.

My caliper clearance is around 3mm / 1/8":

You had problems fitting 18" rims on an Ecoboost with the Performance Package?

Tire Rack recomended 18" for winter tires and must have had 100 choices for wheels.

I am hoping to save a buck and go 17" for my winters.

I do not live in the USA. Tirerack is nice for you guys. Not for me in Alberta. And I am not starting with the low CAD to the USD in the moment.

This is it with the SVE Rims. I also have the Steeda lowering springs installed.
If you want a better side shot just tell me and I can run out and take the photo.
