You only have to unbolt one side of the brace to get the cover off. But it's better to just leave it off honestly. Supposedly the strut brace nuts are one time use, which is silly to me but they are a nylock nut.

Nylock nuts are able to be reused, so long as the nylon is still grabbing. We re-use them all the time.

Yes the massive engine cover is a muffler for the DI fuel pump. I also have a FR catch can installed and to empty it, I have to only remove the two 10mm nuts that hold the cover down. Once removed, I can tilt the cover up high enough to access the catch can and not touch the strut brace. The engine cover has some sound deadening material underneath right over the DI pump. Without this cover, your motor may sound like a diesel at idle.

on my '19 those nuts are really bad single use nuts. I replaced them with higher quality nylock. On the oem nuts I actually had one gall up and metal disintegrate making reuse impossible and that was from 1 st removal. Those nuts are as designed single use. Throw them away and buy real nuts.
