16 GT audio upgrade (shaker) JL components

Hey guys, looking into upgrading the horrible factory shaker system in my 16 GT. I really like the factory look of the JL stealth box so I'm thinking of going with that. And using a JL 500.1 to power the sub. Other than that, I was going to replace all the other speakers with something better. Has anyone tackled this install? I've done quite a few amp installs, but haven't done anything on a newer mustang. I'm guessing the radio/touch screen comes out, and I have to get a adapter for the RCAs of some sort. Anyone have any insight on this?

Get yourself a LOC Adjustable Line Output Converter and tie it into one of the rear speakers. Also an Remote Power Adapter. Don't forget to get an adj bass knob for amp, unless you have it already.

I pulled all my crap out of my old car. But like you kept the stock head unit. Im only using my JL 500/1 and the sub, which is now a custom made box in the spare tire to keep my trunk space.

Turn down the bass on the head unit and will sound really good with stock speakers.

Thanks for the info! You mind sharing some links on the LOC and the remote power adapter? I'm assuming the remote power adapter is going to send power to the amp? I do have a bass knob for my amp. I love JL components, they may cost more but it's worth it IMO. In my 56 F-100,I have just about 1,000 watt setup between 2 components speakers and 2 shallow mount 10's and it rocks! Of course it's a small cab and has tons of dynamite slathered everywhere

Bet the truck rocks. Always like those custom installs on the old school trucks. A friend use to one in his as well before he sold it. It did hit hard as well

You don't need to remove the radio/touch screen. The outputs from the head unit come to three connectors that plug in to the factory amp in the drivers footwell.

• Order the three connectors listed in the wiring sticky (I recommend ordering from Mouser, they have great service!)
• Wire the three connectors to your amps using the correct pins (listed in the schematics also in the wiring sticky)
• Plug the connectors you purchased into the three connectors you've unplugged from the factory amp. The bass and mid range speakers will be driven with the factory wiring, but you'll need to run a pair of wires up to each tweeter.
