This is the tool I have, but others work too.

I've used this tool to successfully turn off the headunit equalization, so I know it works. You will also need to purchase a Forscan license to make any changes. The unlicensed version of Forscan allows you to see everything but you can't make changes. A 1-year license is like $20. I bought a 3-year license for $30, I think. Worth every penny.
I guess I'd need a laptop, too, to plug in the device. Been thinking about getting one for road trips anyway and...just thought...probably for similar software for Toyotas so I can check up on my 4Runner.

Yes, you need a laptop, preferably running Windows10. Just throwing the thought out there that you can create Win10 install media (USB drive) and load it onto a laptop and have a fully functioning Win10 laptop. Of course if you intend to permanently keep Win10 on the laptop you would need to provide a Win10 key...eventually.

The purpose of a temporary license is to let people try a program to see if the program is something they will use
Calm down cowboy; it even says on their site you can renew as many times you want. Go read it. That's what probably EVERY private owner does, if you read the forum. The pay version is for businesses. Besides, if FORScan wanted to block us from using a free license twice, they'd have done it already; it'd be super easy for them to do.

Sorry for bumping a necro thread but I figured I’d search the question. I just put a dash cam in my plugging into the lighter socket and it is always on. Can I safely leave it plugged in and the car will power it off before any harm to the battery? It seems reading this I can but want to be safe about it too thx!
