Not bad. Can we know some details though. Your setup, stock, mods, etc. 3.15 or 3.55 gears? First time at the track? Density altitude? Stock wheel/tire size, etc. MPH seems a couple of mph slow but if you were racing in 90 degree heat with high humidity in Texas as I see, could explain it. Give us a few more details, thanks.
I first got my license in the late 70's and if someone told me someday you could buy a car that did 12.8 in the quarter I'd have laughed at them--even 10 years ago that time with a Mustang GT would have required a lot of aftermarket cash spent. We live in a great age.
My stock base auto with 3.55 gears went [email protected] in the 1/8th with a 1.994 sixty foot. Car was completely stock with a spare and full tank. Race weight was 3960 lb. DA was around +500
Thanks for sharing. Not bad for the first time with your car and being bone stock. Were you in Track mode?
Did you keep on the gas through the lights? If you let off a fraction of a second before the lights it might explain the trap speed. Overall though I'd say you did well. More practice and familiarity and I bet you will be into the 12.6X somewhere just bone stock.
I personally think this is a very good time. Any suggestions/comments on how you launched and whether you let the transmission shift on its own or did you manually shift?
Here is mine... Ran it yesterday. Mine is an Auto with 3.15 gears. Mods are JLT Intake, Stainless Works Catback and Lund Racing Tune. Aired rear stiock tires down to 25psi as well.
I had two runs during the 4 hours I was there. My 1st run was 13.00 running in sport mode and using the paddle shifter, launching around 1800-2000 rpm. That 12.8 was done with 31psi from 38psi and leaving it in full auto, no paddle shifting.
That place is packed these days. Are you going Friday? I guess there's and 1/8 mile track on the north side too (might go one day to get my 60' down). On the 2nd run were also in Sport + within the "S" shifter or no?
