have a 2018 Ecoboost 10 speed and this transmission is annoying the heck out of me😂 I am at 58k miles and I got a transmission replacement about 1k miles ago. The car was shifting smooth but as soon as I put a tune on it, downshifting from 4-3-2-1 is super harsh. I got my tune from tune+ and he says that it sounds like the torque converter is just locking/unlocking and it's normal, he also said that the transmission tables are 100% the same, his tune doesn't change them. but it feels very unpleasant when downshifting and only happens when I tune my car (regardless of if it's Cobb stage 1, 2, or my protune) I took all tunes off of my car until I can figure this out, It did the same thing before my transmission was replaced as well. The car drives better with the tune and I love the power that it makes, the downshifts just make me feel like the transmission is going to mess up again. I have already tried clearing learning tables and pausing adaptive learning, but that didn't help at all. Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like how my stock transmission was, 99% of the point of getting my first tune was to fix the issues with the transmission. No clue why a tuner would sell a tune without changing anything in the transmission, makes no sense

You should try Wengerd Performance for your tune. I had a few people have issues with harshs shifting when using certain tuners and when they switched it was a night/day difference.

When you flash a tune, you also reset all of the learned parameters so it might seem a bit different than usual. But all that should change after you drive a while and the TCU re-learns your driving habit.

I had the same issue when I reset and temporarily disabled the learning. I then re-enabled the learning and after a little while it was back to normal.

+1, I have been on Wengerd for a few months now and the car is finally predictable with throttle inputs. The shifts are buttery smooth. Best part of all is the car is consistently fast. The other tuner I had, my 60-130 was all over the place due to a few factors. (Could be 6 flat one run, low 7s another lol). With Wengerd, we have the tune dialed in where every run is consistently fast. I'd give him a shot.

Reload the previous tune to see if the shifting problems goes away. If it does, you have your answer

So both My GT and EcoBoost did this. (Since resolved) And that shit would down shift HARD like a sledge hammer hitting the transmission.

-Sometimes it would take several KAM resets or crank relearns to make it go away. Or pulling the neg battery cable for awhile. Or sometimes a combination of them all. Seems stupid, but that was the reality. But one it did go away it didn't come back till I switched tunes again.

-This was only ever a thing when I used SCT devices. Not saying that's the reason, but it was a common denominator.

-Went to an RTD device and Wengerd as tuner for the GT. Car shifted perfect without any fiddleing around by me.

I was going to say this too. I have trans problems when I use SCT to flash. I have no idea why, the tunes are the same. If I use HP or PCMtec to flash the exact same tune it works fine.

They probably reset the adaptive learning.

There is a window upon which it is leaned, usually normal operating temp. On/off ramps, freeways etc.

Pretty sure Forscan can even log it.

Some people live ins conditions and roads that mean it never learns.

IDK, on my truck it takes about 500 miles then it starts flaring. The mustang is right away.

This is when flashing exact tune with SCT X4.

HPT or PCM no issues.

I guess everyone should just buy PCMTEC :D

Can you explain how this works. I'm about to order everything to get my ESS SUpercharger? Will this make tune switching a flash instead of flashing each fuel type tune?

Yes you can even have it set up to allow fuel switching with the engine running (if you need to hone in your LTFT due to using adjustable fuel content and the fuel is of unknown quality) on a timer. Typically set to 0 but tuners can set it up to a minute or longer.

Lots of videos of the "user flex" and "flex fuel" on our facebook page and youtube.

There are videos from Lund/PBD and many others as well.
