Was the engine bolted to a stand? and was it a specific stand for this engine or a universal stand. I have seen similar issues when engines are rotated on the stand and the improper mounting holes in the block were used.

Some later model engines are supported on the engine mount pads instead of the bell housing area.

I just attached a pictures from Tony Js turbo build and outlined the area I think you are showing and you can see there is not a lot of strength in this area if you hung the engine on a stand and turned it upside down or sideways.
If the crack was at the bolt hole I could see you point. The crack is not at the bolt hole and actually closer to the oil pan.

Ok I get your point! I just do not think this issue is normal and feel for you and know that this sucks big time too need another engine. I know you will get rid of the car as a lemon rightfully so! But I still believe this is a isolated incident but that does not help you in any case.

I wish you the best in getting this resolved quickly with Ford.
Oh I agree that this is fluke. See post #54. Like you said, it sucks. BIGTIME!

At this point it sounds like Ford needs to send you a new car. Then they can fix this one and sell it to someone else to recoup some of their loss.

I'll put it to you it to you this way. The BRAND NEW 25k engine came on an old wooden pallet. Yup! Just laying there. Did the tech install it incorrectly I assure you he did not. Could the engine have been damaged by the tech accidentally? Maybe. Did the engine get damaged during transport? More likely. Is it a casting issue? Strong possibility.
Harold,

If you have a spare car and some spare time...you ought to swing by the Trissl Motors Auto show in Florence, AL this weekend. I am trailering my GT3 and GT3RS up there for the show - if you can make it I will take you for a spin in the RS.

I just checked mine and I didn't find any cracks. I hope ford finds a way to make it right. :frusty:
Is the dark spot on the left of the hole dirt or grime or a hole? Does it look similar to the ops pic #2 where the crack originated as far as maybe a casting issue? It looks to be in the identical location as pic #2.

I think it's time Ford buys back your GT350 and send you a brand new one. Sorry to hear about this, hope the response is swift.

Personally, I think I would be done with the car and switch to something else, regardless if they give you a new one.

Most of the blocks have that. That is remnants of the casting and could well be where the crack propagated. Will be hard to say as I am sure I will never be told.

Nope! I have seen the numbers but don't have them memorized. I can catch a pic when I get the car back .

Just got my shuttle ride back from the dealer. I took the splitter and belly pan off for them, because, well , you know. I used a paint marker to highlight the area and provided them with the pictures I tool. Spoke with the SM and he said right away that the issue will have to the Regional Service Manager Rep. I happen to know her since I spent two months speaking with her last year over the first engine..DOH! I am pretty certain that the fix will be a motor replacement. That's where the road will come to an end. Really sucks!!!

Just checked mine too as it's on a lift at the dealership. No crack. Interesting though that the hole is drilled to the point of almost going all the way through.
