a crack anywhere on the block is a crack. It should be fixed under warranty, no matter what. Statements like "not pose any concern for the engine" are bull&&^%it.
There is no disclaimer in the warranty saying "if it poses concern" .
It is a fault.

Hold it at 8000 RPM for a while. My bet is it blows up. End of story. New motor please. Once fixed, I'd dump that car. It is bad luck.

i also have always thought it had to basically be broken to do warranty work. guessing what you found will lead to failure eventually, but i won't be surprised if they dont wait til it does actually fail. i hope with what you've been through they take care of you though

If there truly "isnt a corncern to the engine" then why should ford do anything at this time? I believe ive been told as long as there is no failure then its not a warranty issue.

Funny! Apparently the dealer told ford it is just a scratch. Guessing they don't want to do the warranty work and now I have to go to another dealer to have them verify. This time! I will make it easy for them. I will mark the location with a paint marker, apply dye penatrent and take pictures. Maybe I will even use crayons and large font! LOL
I even have access to eddy current but they will not take my word for it ; )

But if your engine is working, then ford has until 60000 miles where they dont have to do something.

Im sure there are a lot of things that may not be in "perfect" condition, but until it doesnt work properly "on the street" tgen you really cant complain.

I hope Ford Customer Service takes care of you. This stinks. Unfortunately, the bolded part below is what area reps often like to hang their hat on...

Power train warranty 5 years 60k miles.

From the 2016 warranty guide:

"Ford Motor Company dealers will, without charge, repair, replace, or adjust all parts on your vehicle that malfunction or fail during normal use during the applicable coverage period due to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or factory workmanship. This warranty does not mean that each Ford vehicle is defect free. Defects may be unintentionally introduced into vehicles during the design and manufacturing processes and such defects could result in the need for repairs. For this reason, Ford provides the New Vehicle Limited Warranty in order to remedy any such defects that result in vehicle part malfunction or failure during the warranty period."

Who's to say when it will "go". He could be on the freeway doing 75 or on the track. I say whether it is working or not, the dealer and Ford know there is a serious defect in the block and they want to wait until someone gets hurt before they fix it?

This is crazy, sorry to hear of your additional troubles Harold. This reminded me, have you checked with Toodles? His first replacement engine had a crack in it's block and he had to wait for the dealer to get another engine before replacing his.

Good luck! I'm hoping I don't have issues with my 2017 car, nor have to deal with my regional rep again..

But a crack in the block is a malfunction. I'm 99% sure they aren't supposed to crack...

No, the block is still performing its function, which is to control the combustion in the cylinders. If it weren't, the car wouldn't continue to run.

...Or at least that's the argument the area rep can make, with a straight face. :tsk:

Harold if you don't mind sharing the dealer who would like you to drive around with a cracked block so we can all avoid doing business with them permanently that would be awesome.
