10 speed auto transmission (10R80) S550 Mustang showing up in Microcat

Not sure if anyone else has posted this yet, but I found it interesting!

10 Speed Auto Transmission (10R80) now listed under the Transmission drop down menu for the "2015+" Mustang in Microcat (parts lookup system at Ford dealerships). Should be coming soon!

What do you think will be the cost over the current transmission and will it replace or be an added cost? Love my wife's DCT in Porsche Macan, it shifts so quick it blips pasts gears with a wild whine

It's not the 6AT is not shifting slow it's gearing. Most german cars go through 3 years before hitting 60mph. The mustang 2nd gear hits 80-90mph.
When you are banging through the gears it feels faster.

It's cool the 10 speed is coming but when the hell is Ford gonna put a better manual Trans in? The mt82 needs to go.

I personally do not think were going to see it in a reg GT. Its being used in the Raptor and my hunch is that it will show up in a Mach1 or other performance variant.... then become standered in the 2020 /S650.
The 6R80 has been proven to be a wicked strong transmission. No need to jump ship until its in a entire new platform.

It's not just in the Raptor... it's going to be in the 2017 F150 in general when equipped with the 3.5 ecoboost.

Needs to be available for every trim.

yeah, i agree. i know the autos are faster and prob get better fuel economy i just like to row my own gears. hopefully ford does something for the 18 model year, we all might be trading up :lol:

They should of just thrown the ZF 8 Speed in there 2 years ago and called it a day.

That ZF is a great tranny as is.

I had my heart set on a manual for my next car.. but man it's hard to argue against a strong/fast auto with great economy to boot.
