The 10 speed will be awesome.

The current slush-o-matic didnt interest me at all, but if this had been available it would have been a tough choice.

If they go with DI (for an extra 40bhp), the 10-speed and some updates like all LED headlamps etc, the MY18 is going to be a v. nice car indeed.

You may call it a "slush-o-matic, and yes it's old tech, but it's strong, reliable, smooth.

And using the paddles, will change gears faster than you can in a manual:)

There is a delay in response from the paddle shift, but you can build this into your own inputs by anticipating when you want to shift. It's only a fraction of a second delay and with a bit of experience it becomes second nature.

When I made my first enquirers about the Mustang at the dealership I had hoped that the current model would have the dual clutch auto box affair but only really because I know it would trump the manual on acceleration and economy. When I learned it was to have a torque converter I was a bit disappointed but it did still marginally outperform the manual, so I was happy with that. If it'd been a few MPGs less or a second slower to 60 I'd have gone manual

Ford can keep their 10 or 20 speed flappy paddles and instead concentrate on getting the manual GT350 over here for 2018!

Love the sound when pulling away too. Quite characteristic of torque converters

Next thing we know the'll be replacing that old tech petrol motor with some new battery powered affair which is even quicker and costs pence to run! It'll have a lot of pros but I won't be buying one!
