Where I’m at you could get one with at least 70k less for that amount. That’s like a $3500 GT all day.

There’s no way that’s worth $6k. $4k, maybe. My 2001 GT Convertible went for $6k back in 2012 with 95k miles.

I personally like the SN95 and S550. The in between model not so much. I've owned my 03 since 04 and love driving it almost as much as the S550. They're both summer rides lol.

For $6k, hard pass. Now if it had 70k miles, perhaps it would be worth a look. The going rates for those cars varies with your location (like any car) but I bought an ‘01 gt about four years ago with 65k miles for $6500 here on the east coast

I just got rid of an 01 and when I bought it, it had 103k miles and a one owner car. It was junk! Everything and anything would break, from ball joints to wheel bearings and so on. The car ran good, but they were not built to last 20 years. I contrast, I bought a 99 Isuzu Rodeo with 189k for $1800 to go fishing in, beater. And in two years I’ve replaced the shocks.

The 40th anniversary edition had no differences beyond a coin-style badge on the front fenders that read “40th Anniversary”. It’s possible prices have gone up on 1999-2004 Mustangs for whatever reason, but don’t pay extra for a 2004 based on a glued on coin. :p

$4-$4,500 tops if the interior is in good shape.

The good thing about these cars is they have a very, very solid drivetrain. The 4.6 2V isn’t very powerful but it will run for a loooooong time with routine maintenance. T45 trans is OK as long as it hasn’t been beaten. Check for smooth engagement, no grinding between gears. The 8.8 rear is a tank.. with high mileage plan on the differential clutches being worn and needing to be rebuilt. Otherwise it will effectively be an open differential.

The lower mileage one you found would be closer to the $6k range if it’s really clean. $7k is a bit of a stretch but if you have the $ to spend and it’s super clean, then maybe it’s the right deal for you. I would start at $6k though.

are you a big fan of the garbage 2004 (non-terminator) everything else?
But even the Terminators had basically the same horrible ergonomics. I had two and I enjoyed looking at them more than sitting in them. The wife had a 2001 GT and boy was I happy when we sold it.

And $6K is stupid for that car.

There is a reason Terminators are holding their value.
