This stuff is great for windows. Make sure glass is dry first.

I've had good luck with Comet cleaner too ... wet though, not dry.

Some say tooth paste is good. I will stick with the steel wool. I had wiper streaks it took it right out

I had years worth of deposits outside the wiper sweep on my '91 Caprice. Plenty of elbow grease and 0000 got rid of them.

Copper kitchen scrubs also work well.

A couple comments...

I'm sure the 0000 steel wool will remove contaminants from automotive glass but I sure wouldn't want a hunk of that steel anywhere near the clear coat. Even the wool shedding would be risky.

The other thing...

I've had good luck with Comet cleaner too
When I was a teenager, I cleaned my summer job boss's Monte Carlo windshield with Comet. It cleaned it but scratched the HELL out of the glass. He had to have another w/s installed so I'd steer clear of Comet or any abrasive cleaner. For me, polishing is the answer.

The only kitchen cleanser that I would use on glass is the original Bon Ami, "hasn't scratched yet."
Others have grit which does not dissolve and will scratch the glass.

The steel wool worked great for me. I am sure other things would have worked.

Aside from 0000 steel wool, I use Invisible Glass cleaner.

Again another killer use for Liquid Glass. You will be shocked. Treat your windows with it and you won’t be disappointed. I’m not trying to plug the stuff but it’s just my experience. I am 55 years old and wouldn’t use anything else.
