Considering a factory order '17 GT, but I'm concerned about the drive line vibration issue that seems fairly common. I had driveshaft issues with my 06 GT, and I don't want to go through that again (replaced several driveshafts, rear diff, axles, etc).

Also, seemingly common are the panel alignment and A/C issues.

I'd like to get a feel for how common these issues and/or other issues are.

Please post your year and model (GT, EB, etc) if not already in your profile.

Appreciate your answers and time - thanks.

Welcome to the forums from Cary as well.

I had some panel alignment issues, mainly the trunk and one of the bumper tabs. Got that fixed, but mine is an early 2015.

No other issues for me.

I said I have body panel alignment issues, as I do have one, but not a big deal to me. If you are looking at a '17, I doubt you have to worry about alignment issues at all.

Overall has been a stellar car so far.

Took 3 times to fix all the body panel issues.
They never could fix the vibration & I lemon lawed the car @ 1200 miles.
Also, SYNC would randomly fail & the screen would be blank, sometimes until the 2 or 3rd restart of the car - this was never fixed either.

Totally get that. Just want to get a sense of just how common the issues are in the S550.

DL vibration- It's inherent to the car. The FSE who worked on my car told me that he had had 2 GT's as company cars and they both had it to some extent. One of the engineers at Steeda told me the same thing. He thinks automatics tend to have it worse. The FSE said that a lot of people just don't notice it- which is good for Ford.

Some cars are terrible, mine was. But after 2 DS, pinion flanges, on the car balancing and 10 visits to the dealer it is probably 90% which is livable. The problem is that once you know it is there, you can't not notice it. I will point out that road surface, tire pressure and engine rpm all contribute certain levels of vibration that can feel like the same frequency as the DL vibration. I'd make sure the dealer allows you to drive the car extensively when it arrives so you can make your own judgement and then cancel the contract if the car has a problem. And go drive several of them- one of them is likely to have it bad enough to bother you if you are the picky type.

The driver's side fender to bumper alignment on my car isn't perfect, but it's not bad. Otherwise no issues of significance.

Going to a Internet forum and looking for perfection are you ?

Let me let you in on a little secret. Internet people are professional complainers. You be best to ignore this thread and just inspect your car thoroughly when you buy it.

BTW, mine is perfect and you can't have it :headbang:
Can we please be done with the "no car is perfect" and "Internet forums arent reality" posts? i'm not a child or a newbie, so my expectations are in line. I said I was looking for a "general sense", not an exact answer. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the info and advice. Yeah, I have way too much experience with driveshaft vibration. They finally got it so it's 90% better, and I don't really notice the vibration anymore. So I can certainly live with a little NVH. But I know what it's like when it's more than just a little, and from what I've read that's what some people are experiencing. You can bet that I will drive the car when it arrives extensively, As well as drive several others before it arrives.

What do you expect?..... It's a forum:shrug:

Having said that, my GT/CS is the most perfect car I have owned so far. Take that for what it's worth.:cheers:

Good point! I'll do my part and just stay on topic.
Just saying, you will get answers like that. Like you said, "You're not a child or a newbie", so answers like that should be expected.

And everyone knows that everything on the internet is true.

Any, back on topic.....

I'm new here, so last thing I want is to make a bad first impression. You're absolutely right - I should have just not hit enter and let it go. Just an exceptionally shitty week so a little cranky - my apologies. I appreciate all replies - this forum has been very helpful for research.
