I didn't do a great job checking over the car when I picked it up. I found what I thought was a great deal and jumped on it before it was gone (had previously missed out on a blue 16' closer to me @ MSRP). Among the issues I found the next day was my rear driver's side wheel has a coating of grease over the entire barrel of the wheel (that now has brake dust and dirt mixed in).

What's the deal with that? Do I need to take any special care in cleaning it all off?

I would take the wheel off and thoroughly clean the inside with some wheel cleaner. While the wheel is off, also visually inspect for any issues with the diff or axle. If you are not comfortable with this, take it to the dealer and have them do it. I would be more concerned with the origin of the grease than the cleaning element though.

Should've thought of that! I had a GTR before that I did all the maintenance on. I assume this car will be a breeze by comparison.

Do you know if dealers use jack pads when lifting the car or do they just lift by the pinch welds?

Be aware, if you are that picky, you will be cleaning the wheels at least once per week. The brake dust is about the only thing I don't like on these cars, but it is the price you pay for great brakes.
You may want to consider adding jack rails to the car, such as the Steeda parts, there are other manufacturers available also. Jacking the Mustang by the pinch welds is a pain.

Once a week? Try daily if you're picky. I'm not by the way.

I know anout the brake dust, I'm glad the wheels are black lol. I was just concerned with why there's so much grease, why only this wheel, etc.

Always seen them use jack pads. I wouldn't worry too much about them damaging the underside. I wouldn't drive too much until you get that squared away though. Grease on a brake rotor is bad news.

I called Ford Performance, they said the axles 'should' be sealed and not cause that, and of course said to take it to a dealer. I'll post here whatever I find out.

I haven't gone to the dealer yet but I did get some better pictures. I'm going to try to take it in tomorrow morning just to have it documented in the service history.

The last picture is of the right side for comparison.

Yeah that definitely has to be a tear in the outer CV boot of the half shaft. Easy fix though..

Going to dealer tomorrow morning. I picked it up from a dealer about 150 miles from me and drove it home. I noticed the grease on the wheel the next morning, the car has only 300 miles on it now 5 days later.

Or wasn't clamped correctly... but something that would only show up with some driving anyway. It happens. It's not too bad to fix. You'll get it back the same day.

You can take it to a local dealer. It's just a standard warranty issue.
