First of all I need to thank fellow forum member Katastrophe for helping find my R allocation. After flying out to Winnipeg to inspect the car and finish up the documentation my anxious wait for transport delivery began.
I received her on May 19th at RM Restoration and Auction facilities close to my home (amasing facility for those of you ever finding your way into southern Ontario...a must see). Moving on to the car...
My mustang journey began the day I turned 15 and started begging my dad for a Mustang GT...every day, until I was 18 and figured out it wasn't happening (my dad raised us the right way...work to buy the things you desire). Many years passed and I had the opportunity to own many wonderful vehicles and my desire to own a domestic vehicle was not there. Then the commercial.....the teaser commercial with the silver GT350 finishing with that beautiful engine note...and I was hooked. My obsession began and ordered my car in September of last year...fast forward to present.
Here are my initial thoughts: this car must have been created by designers and engineers touched by divine intervention!! The engine...that engine...it sounds like a group of angels letting out an enormous war cry. Simply heaven, and in my opinion does not need ANY exhaust mods whatsoever (or normal mode for that matter....sport is the ONLY mode needed).
Electronics: Sync 3 is a big improvement over the previous generation and I like it. The stereo sound is simply awful...I don't care, it took me half a dozen drives to turn it on.
Ergonomics: no complaints, seat position is good, Recaros are surprisingly comfortable which I wasn't expecting and even my wife finds them comfortable. Controls are well placed and I love the toggles and dials for radio controls.
Interior: I really like the interior and feel it fits the character of the car to a tee. I wish they sprinkled a little more alcantara on the shifter base, the handbrake etc. Again It doesn't bother me as they really put the money where it matters most. I am getting a bit of squeaking near the left driver side vent..seems to stop when a push on it so I will get that looked at.
Exterior: the car looks very aggressive and I love it. It is a DIB with black roof and stripes. The stripes were put on straight and the paint is in good shape, no paint blotches or boogers noticed. Panel alignment was really good not great, again not concerned. The car was born this way and I feel that it is part of the character of the car, unique to only it.
Driving Experience: awesome, granted I haven't really pushed her yet. An extremely visceral experience, and of course the engine is the biggest reason. Throttle response is great, and breaking is excellent. I find the steering feel to be very good with a preference for the comfort setting when the suspension is set to normal. I feel that normal and sport adds artificial weighting that numbs some of the feel, but this might be different on track. The clutch is light and I don't mind it, and it engages a little high but again this is the way it was engineered, and it will stay that way for me. The shifter responds best when using a firm throw and it has good feel...no point in finessing, clutch and shifter work best with a firm action. What an amasing machine, I can't think of another vehicle I would rather have at a price even 20 to 30 thousand more than the R. It makes me laugh out loud every time I drive it, and just feels so SPECIAL.....my Mustang dream come true.
Attempting to upload some pics.....not sure how to resize them from my iPad photo album but will try:cheers:
