I was involved in a Accident on the weekend. Here in Australia and the Mustang being so new over here I am wondering if any members of the forum have had a similar accident. Photos attached.
Unfortunately my great driving record of nearly 40 years has taken a battering and my pride is hurt. A car in front of me suddenly stopped to turn right with not any indication. There was a car parked to the left so there was no where for me to go.
Main thing was that no one was injured.
I have attached photos of my Mustang along with the car I hit and as you can see the other car a Kia suffered major damage and will written off.
You would have to enlarge the photo of my car to see what damage has been done. Front grill broken and front panel is dented and has popped off on the sides. I was able to open the hood however I cannot close it due the front panel being pushed back slightly. No fluids leaked out and engine appears fine and the airbags did not deploy.
So I am wondering if any USA members who may have experienced a similar accident if they can share their experience as to what damage may have been done under the body. I am waiting for the repairers to take the front off. A few people have said to me that it is highly unlikely that there will be any chassis damage due to what I have already stated. Any feedback members can give would be appreciated please.
Waiting for parts is going to be the biggest issue I think.

That's either really impressive for the mustang, or really disgraceful for the kia. How fast were you driving at impact?

Glad everyone was OK!

It doesn't look like much happened to your Mustang, besides the obvious damage to the front fascia, grill and hood. Behind the front fascia is a foam barrier and a 5mph bumper. The foam piece may be broken, but your airbag didn't deploy, so the 5mph bumper didn't break. Take a look at your radiator support and make sure its straight. I had my Cougar totalled because that bent (it was considered part of the frame).

Overall damage looks to be cosmetic and nothing severe. I wish you the best of luck. Also, don't beat yourself up too much. These things happen and its your 40 years of issue free driving that prevented the situation from being worse.

Just received a phone call from my repairer to say they have taken the front off and happy with what the see. They have said there is a metal bar behind the front bumper that is squashed but that looks like it is the only part that may need replacing. Going over tomorrow to take a look and take a heap of photos and hopefully by then the repairer will have a list of parts and a costing for my Insurance Company. So will post photos of what I find. The brotherhood of this forum is great.

Sorry to hear this. Shit happens. It will be repaired as new and you can move on and forget it.

Sounds like it will be made perfect again without much effort.

You mashed that Kia pretty hard.

Although the initial indicators look very good for you, and the Mustang held up incredibly well, I would still ask the shop to throw the car on a frame rack just to be sure that no hidden problems are there.

Hey Greg you might as well get them to put the USA Gt low grill in while the front is off. Good thing you hit a cheap shit box, might have been different if it was an old car made out of metal :ford:

Blimey, I can just imagine how you must have walked towards the Kia thinking oh hell, what is my car gonna look like and then, seeing your car thinking WTF!
Glad its just your ego hurt and hope repairs go well. If its anything like the UK, parts may be the delaying factor!

Glad to hear no one was hurt! Well, pretty impressive showing for the our Mustangs! A few weeks from now and all will be back to normal. Stuff happens, don't beat yourself up over it. Maybe use it as an excuse to get an aftermarket bumper :)
