I'm planning to get the Ford Racing Street Handling Pack and an engine Strut Tower Brace.

The problem is I'm an overzealous noob. Just ordered a 16" GT, never really done mods before or even had a "nice" car.

Basically, I have Googlefu which I want to sanity check with the resident experts here. I want to check that I'm setting my expectations correctly and not getting myself into a situation that doesn't fit my needs/profile.

Here's why I want to do this mod: I want to tighten up the suspension and chassis. I think by doing this my driving experience, even if its street driving, will be more responsive -- including improving turning and overall handling. The ride will overall be smoother and less bouncy.

Other things I believe: I get to keep my warranty intact because it's Ford parts installed by a Ford dealership. Resale on vehicle will overall be less because its not stock.

I'm actually meh on lowering the car by 1" because I'm not sure its practical and I have a lot of speed curbs in my area. :p

Appreciate the sanity check and any insight.

Except for the springs, the rest of the kit is basically the same as on a Performance Package GT. If you don't really want to lower the car, just get a low mileage take-off PP suspension. Lots of us on here on the forums have upgraded our PP suspensions so just post up a WTB ad in the classifieds.

^^^Not true the sentence in bold. I had the PP and just upgraded to the Ford Racing Struts/Shocks and they are an improvement over the PP. The PP sucks for performance had that floaty feeling and I could not wait to get those parts off my car. The Ford Racing Strut/shock did make a nice improvement. But for me not enough. So I will be selling these parts when the Koni strut/shock package becomes available. Now I only have 200 miles on these parts but there is no doubt the Ford Racing Strut/Shocks is better for performance and price not bad. For most guys here this upgrade will be awesome. As for me I want more extreme performance.

Remember the street pack is not the same as the track shocks and struts

Street kit uses the PP (black) dampeners. Still a huge improvement over his non-PP dampeners

The ones you are referring to are in the full track & dampeners kit. (blue)

Yes I do know the difference bud. I have them installed with the old PP parts sitting in a pile.

I stand by my statement. The PP shocks/Struts suck big time. Fords Street package IS the PP dampers Shocks/Struts. I am on Ford Racings website and I see no Street kit with dampers. If there is provide a link. The link you provided even says in description of product that it is "Track Handling Package"

The street handling pack is part # M-FR3A-MA - $969.00

The track handling pack is part # M-FR3A-M8 - $1299.00

Two different suspension kits.

Lol...that is exactly what I said...not sure why you think i am stating otherwise.

OP did post the link for the street pack with dampeners:
And Ecoboosted posted the part #s.

As for standing by your statement about how the PP dampeners suck, by all means please have at it. (for me, the PP springs suck but YMMV) For the OP's needs, they may be just fine. Lots of folks on here perfectly content with just using the PP dampeners with stock or aftermarket springs.

Aurum,

Do yourself a favor and get the Ford Racing Handling pack (M-FR3A-M8) instead. The PP springs and shocks are no bueno and comes with what people here refer to as the "PP Bounce." I will guarantee you will be a bit disappointed with the suspension as are most of us who bought the GT with the PP. I just had the handling pack installed and wish that I had gotten it done sooner. Not only is the bounce gone, but the car handles like it's on rails.

You can find reviews of the Handling Pack here:

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25045

Levittown Ford has the cheapest prices here:

http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-racing-mustang-handling-p-3253.html

It will run you about 800-900 to have the pack installed at a dealership.

I dont know how so many of you complain abour the PP suspension. What did yal have before Bentleys? 5k in suspesions work? Seriously the suspension can be made better but floaty and bouncy are far from accurate. I mean do you drive over only speed bumps at 55 plus?

To original poster:

Depends on your goals. I am going with the Street Handling Pack, since my only problem with the PP is the springs. Also, I don't want the stiffness of the Track pack. Got it on Friday and will be putting it in in the next weeks.

Wait for Koni so you have the adjustability and buy a set of progressive springs if you don't like the linear rate.

The street pack is actually stiffer than handeling pack. Had both setup.
