This is exactly why I didn't by the Performance Pack. Instead, I bought a base GT with 3.55 gears (settled for the middle way). I then swapped out the suspension for Ford Racing Street Handling Pack -- which gave me slightly better than PP suspension (same as PP except for the springs).

I'm really happy with the street pack. Corners great, still compliant. If you keep your tires at 32, it's nice and soft. I usually keep them at 37. Sometimes it's a bit hard then.
No female in my life noticed the difference. That says a lot.
I like it!
I used Don Wood Ford Racing Parts:

$925.45 + 99 shipping = 1024.45.
There are a few places cheaper, but I waited and waited for shipping. Don Wood shipped the next day. Excellent service.

Just curious why you want to upgrade? For daily driving, the 4 piston Akebono brakes are great. For track, I suspect that the PP brake set-up is insufficient. If I decide to track my base GT (with FRPP Street Pack installed), I think the better move is to upgrade all 4 brakes with Wilwood's...
If you're in the SF Bay Area, you are welcome to drive it. In fact, I think it would be great if folks with different set-ups got together so we could see how they all drive.

Which one you get is going to vary a lot by the person. I'm 51, have a lot ladies that I drive around, and have another car for the track. I was not going for the stiffest or the coolest. My guess is a lot of the folks putting the Track Pack on are much younger and want a combo dd/track car...
I did the Street Pack myself with a buddy and another mechanic friend. It took us 12 hours, but the mechanic friend had not yet worked on a S550 Mustang. I think 6-8 hours is a fair assumption for a shop. For the Track Pack, it will be longer, since you have an extra bushing to change...
X-Springs get rid of all bounce in the PP suspension, while keeping the daily-driver compliance over bumps. Going to track suspension is overkill for a daily driver IMHO. I just put on FRPP Street Handling Pack (PP + 5300-X springs), and now my car is amazing on the street. If I were racing...
I just put the Street Handling Pack in my car last weekend. I started with the Base GT suspension.
Absolutely LOVE it. No bounce, corners beautifully, and none of the three females in my life (daughter, wife and mother) noticed a thing! Not harsh at all, but amazing cornering, braking...
What is the negative side effect of not being parallel?
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm trying to better understand the physics of my suspension.

Well, after spending all day Sunday installing the Street Handling Pack, I now have a bunch of other things I might want to change. For example, I noticed that my right front end link is bent a bit, and I am thinking about upgrading them.
1. What's the best brand? (Bring on your opinions!)
2...
I currently only have a base GT, non-PP. To be honest, I really think the dashboard gauges are silly. My plan was to upgrade my own suspension and brakes.
You are right that what I now have is the PP suspension with 5300-x lowering springs. Many reviews of the springs suggest that using...
Ok, first review of the Street Handling Pack.
1. Installation wasn't the easiest. Here's a tip -- to get the rear springs in, you essentially have to take off the whole lower control arms. Make sure you keep track of the right torque specs. Since there are four rubber bushings per...
Correct. The street pack is equivalent to the PP except it also includes progressive lowering springs 5300-X. I am putting this pack on my base GT this weekend.
