Hi all,

Just wanted to post up my new oil mist catch from Whipple. There are a lot of really good options out there currently for catch cans but as far as I know, nobody's got one that works quite like this one.

Once again I am completely blown away by the fit and finnish from Whipple. This thing is one serious unit. It is made completely of aluminum with the beautiful Whipple logo and comes with high quality hoses for a better than OEM appearance.

How this setup sets itself apart from the others is it does not need to be emptied. What it does is collect the oil from the mist and hold it internally, then when the car is turned off any caught oil will drip through the one way check valve back into the oil fill. Completely genius if you ask me.

Well enough already here are some pictures. The first couple show the setup completely disassembled as it comes out of the box.

Even the fittings are high quality with O rings so one does not have to use teflon tape on the threads.

These two are after assembly

And her it sitting like a champ on the engine

I absolutely love my UPR remote catch can and enjoyed it but this new Whipple setup looks right at home on my car with the beautiful 2.9 as the centerpiece. I am using the UPR driver side catch can and the two of these together look just awesome and I love the look.

To be clear this Whipple setup will work on stock, non supercharged engines. As a matter of fact I'm betting it will work on any engine that keeps the intake connection in the factory location.

Thank you Dustin, I love it and it's great to see more Whipple bling in my engine bay. Keep up the great work and innovation, it's much appreciated.

I think it depends on "how" the collection is done. I had a JLT can once and the collection was frothy and yucky but every oz I've collected in my UPR (this car) and Bob's (05' Whippled GT) has been pure oil. It's not rocket science, oil in the the mist is collected and dripped to the bottom back in oil form.

This is not a new concept, I believe Mercedes and other high end cars do this right from the factory. If is ok for them its ok for my Ford :)

I have a bobs and it looks like oil but is def a bit frothy/watery like there is moisture in there. Idk if I'd trust that stuff going back into my oil vs just emptying it.

I think some of that has to to with the oil being trapped and emptied eventually.

This setup collects the oil when car is running then drips it back into the oil fill immediately after the car is turned off when it's still hot.

Thank you Jmeo! The Camaro 1LE also does this same concept. All Ford factory supercharged applications also circulate the oil. The benefit of this is the auto drain feature. To date, we only see normal engine oil. If something else is being pushed out, there might be another issue.

I am so impressed with everything that I have read and seen about Whipple and the quality of their work :headbang: I can't wait till my 2016 GT PP comes and and goes straight to the shop for the Whipple install  How much are these listed for and I'm assuming they can be ordered as an accessory when ordering the supercharger unit?

They are $250 and will be on Whipple's website soon I'm sure and most likely available via Lethal Performance as well.

It does look interesting. Does the top part where the SS mesh is installed come apart further so that we can see what it looks like at the inlet and outlet ports? Is the SS mesh right at the outlet port? Testing by UPR and RX has shown that having the mesh right at the outlet allows oil to be sucked into the outlet and into the intake.

I personally would not want the oil caught in the catch can to go back into my engine. While the oil caught in my catch can during most of the year looks like straight oil, the oil caught during the winter months always looks milky like it has water in it and this is what I really don't want back into my engine.

The SS mesh you can see is only in the bottom part of the assembly and is not in the top part where the inlet and outlet is.

I will let Whipple answer further regarding winter months as I don't want to make any wrong assumptions but as mentioned, this same type design is used in other factory applications so it makes me feel better that it must not be harmful.

Interesting, would definitely want some more info on this product!

If I understand it well, this fits on the stock oil filler cap and can be used along with the UPR can? Does it fit the Ecoboost engine as-well?

Thx

I'm sure it will fit the valve cover but I do know know if the return hose would fit an ecoboost as I don't know where the inlet is on your motor. I'm sure just a new hose (if different) would do the trick.
