Black Shelby GT350R at the Charlotte Auto Fair

I was at the Charlotte Auto Fair, and got quite a few pictures! Let me just say this car is absolutely stunning in person! The black and red mesh together so well. The front is very sinister compared to the rest of the S550 lineup. There was a 15 GT behind it giving great comparison between the 2 vehicles. The brakes stood out the most to me along with the killer looking wheels. Only complaint is wheel gap, and the tires almost looked too small, especially on the front, and were almost bald! Guess they've been beating the crap out of this thing!

So, what does an owner of this car do with these wheels? I'd be tempted to take them off right away and store them because they'd likely be very difficult and expensive to replace, yes?

They are Pilot Sport Cup 2's. They are basically a street legal road racing tire. Not much tread on them at all. Similar to the Trofeo tires on the Z/28. I have used the Toyo R888 (similar tire) and they handle and grip great.

Those Pilot tires look that way when new. I had some Pilot super sports on my 2011 and a week after putting them on a friend was telling me they looked bald. I hadn't spun them (much) yet at that time.

I know at least the SS Pilots worked really well and had great grip. I even put them on a little early in the spring and drove the car in snow once and I was fine. Pretty great tires.

You guys are lucky to see color as it is. Unfortunately Iam color blind. I have protanopia to be exact. Red and green blindness. In my sight white and silver looks nice as hell, my current car is silver too. Guard, black, red, ruby, orange, magnetic looks like different shade of black for me :( fml

Man, I'm normally not a fan of black cars at all because I think they're overdone, don't stand out (black isn't a color -- it's the absence of color), and are hard to keep looking good... but that GT350 with the matte stripes and the red pinstripe accents... Damn.

Still, I have a feeling a lot of color combos could look really sexy if they're giving us some good striping options.

Actually, coming from an art and photography background, white is the product of all colors, black is the absence of all color. There are several color Theories out there...additive color, subtractive color.....anyhow..color is color!

I love the car... and won't knock the black. But its just so common of a color its really not so original. and the total black on this car hides all the cool things going on with the vents and aero. So not really enjoying it.

But, There is a reason the word black.....

is pronounced "BLAH-k" and has the letters... BLA in it.

But, I'll add if this was the only color the GT350 was offered in I'd still buy it.

Just repaint the calipers and get the Brembo Decals to put back on it. Real simple to make them any color you want.

That is exactly what I want. I don't need all eyes on me. But when eyes do land on my black beauty, there's no question if it's the right color. :headbang:
