Took delivery of 2015 GT PP

Just got home from taking delivery of my 2015 GT with PP/Nav. She's silver with the ebony interior.

Ever since I sold the 2013 5.0 I've missed it, and missed rowing the gears. So the opportunity presented itself to add a car, and keep my existing sports sedan (2014 Chevy SS).

Here's the two cars in the driveway. Glad to be back in the 5.0.

Early review: Powerful, beautiful. Chevy has better nav maps. MFT is fine. Stereo speakers are still poor quality. Brembo brakes look awesome on this car. Acceleration is brisk.

Great to see the Commodore and the mustang in the same shot!!!! How do the vehicles compare against each other? the SS is after all performance car with a monster V8 and great handling?

Yeh it is good to see them together, gives us some perspective. I too find it odd that it looks a fair bit smaller than the specs seem to suggest. (Which to me is a good thing.)

I've been considering a new mustang gt PP, 2016 camaro ss (if it looks good when they unveil it), or a 2015 Chevy ss with a manual transmission. How do you think you'd compare ur two cars if the SS was a stick?

+1. Can you provide some details on the differences in the drives? Never driven the SS but a lot of the chatter seems to be ok, competent but not super exciting and too conservative.

Congratulations on both vehicles! The Mustang looks considerably smaller in your picture, but I'm guessing that's an optical illusion.

I would like to know your impressions of each vehicle as you live with each and as time goes by. I've test-driven each vehicle three times each so far and I find the SS to be the superior automobile in all respects (it just looks and feels like a far more expensive car), but it is about $10,000 more expensive, although that goes away when you load the Mustang up with all the stuff the SS has standard and account for the probable superior resale of the SS. The professional numbers seem to put the two vehicles about neck and neck. I've got a 2015 SS on order (in Silver Ice Metallic too!) and I love the sleeper aspect of the vehicle, but my wife really wants a Triple Yellow 2015/16 Mustang GT instead or too. In terms of driving feel, the 2015 is not that much better than my 2012 Mustang GT, but the 2015 definitely has a nicer interior and a sleeker, more modern exterior.

Look for reviews of the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS (I've linked one below) - its the UK badged version of the Commodore HSV GTS (basically a ZL1, supercharger and all, in a 4 door body).

Remove the Supercharger from the equation and you have the Chevy SS as its the same generation of vehicle (Commodore VF).

There's something to be said for the big ol' Holden when its rated above the M5, C63, Alpina B3 and RS4 avant. The only car that beats it is the Jaguar XFR/XFRS.

The Chevy SS may have been softened, since large American saloons tend to favour the smoother of rides, rather than Australian and European "I think I broke my back" suspension setups. So take the review on the handling with a pinch of salt. But overall, if the Commodore was cheaper (£20,000 difference), I'd be getting one over a Mustang.

Whatever your measure of cult status, it’s likely that the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS car qualifies.

HSV reportedly sold the idea to Holden by hand-building a mule using an off-the-shelf LSA engine, then it spent years secretly developing the car so it would not only pass GM’s strict reliability testing but also roll at least part of the way down the production line with all the other Commodores.

Come 2017, that production facility will cease to exist. And while HSV and Holden will march on, the GTS will be the last car of its kind to have been designed and built in Australia.

Had it been a dud, sentimentality wouldn’t have saved the car in the UK. But it isn’t. This final fusion of American muscle and Antipodean know-how is compelling not only for its speed or historical circumstance but also for its completeness and sense of down-to-earth congeniality.

It’s a fitting and pitch-perfect final innings. And the fact that the GTS is cheaper than the rest turns out to be incidental; the real kicker is that in all the ways that matter, it’s just plain better.
