So my Mishimoto CAI came via UPS today and I rushed off from work to my parents house to take advantage of my dads extensive tool collection and general old guy knowledge of auto mechanics :D

The kit came very well packaged. Everything was in one big box and then inside of that box each part was in its own separate packaging/box and the parts were flawless. You can see the size of the huge filter in the first pic next to my 90lb 12yo labrador who looks scared because I just stepped on some bubble wrap lol

Installation:
In the package there are instructions to go online to the Mishimoto website where you can download printable instructions and watch the install video. Unless you already know what each of the parts are and where they are located the printed instructions are very difficult to follow so I just laid those to the side and followed the video. The video does a very good job of identifying every step that you need to take but you do come to realize that there is quite a bit of hard work between those simple looking takes. All in all, it took my dad and I about an hour due to a lack of tool organization and that damn recirc hose just being hard as hell to get off of the stock intake. But every part of the Mishi kit fits in place flawlessly and there is no need to modify or go underneath the car.

Sound:
The videos really don't do it justice. The sound of the engine sucking in air is clearly audible with the windows up and you can also hear the blow off. With music on at reasonable volume you can block out the sound for the most part but if you listen for it you will still hear it. I haven't had a chance to ride with the windows down yet because its freezing tonight but I know it will sound awesome. I'll be sure to post up a video when I get a chance.

Looks:
Sexy

Power:
Now I know this intake is only supposed to add 8whp and 9wtq which may not sound like a noticeable difference but I have over 5,000 miles on my car and I know how it feels on hard acceleration. When I get on it now I can definitely feel an increase in the smoothness of the acceleration, especially on the top end. It really feels like the car just breathes better now.

I'm really not one to care what it looks like under my hood and change things like coolant tanks etc but I must say there is some satisfaction in opening up the hood and seeing something that just looks nice

Good stuff! Wish I was car knowledgeable to do an install like this myself. Your dog is like "I have no idea what I am doing" lol.

Install the CAI yourself. It's a good learning experience.

Too scared I might screw something up and void the warranty.

It's really not that hard, at least not these things. Take your time, make sure you know what bolts/nuts go where and just do it. Make sure to watch the install videos and double check everything.

Prior to my stang, I've always been a gear head... But, never really turned wrenches (IT guy). So far, I've replaced my intercooler, installed a catback, catch can, and my CAI was just delivered. Should have it on tonight.

It's all a learning experience, and completely worth it.

Yea they're right it is a great way to learn more about your car and how things are held together under the hood. I have no prior experience doing things like this either, having the right basic hand tools is the most important part.

I just took the car out for a joy ride at lunch and dropped the windows. DAMN IT SOUNDS SEXY. The sound of the turbo spooling is now 10 times louder and the smoother acceleration is definitely not my imagination, I did a few red light launches just to make sure :)

The best way to learn is to jump right into a few easy bolt-on components. We have an awesome installation video that should help with the process. It would also help to have an experienced buddy on-hand to field any questions.

I also hit the track for the first time.. in my life. It wasn't too crowded at Cecil County track so I ran the 1/4 mile 5 times and got the best time on the last run. Just ignore the guy in the left lane... he cheated :)

It was pretty cool that my car sounded totally different from everyone elses there
