I used Duplicolor's Metalcast red anodized. First laid down a base coat of silver VHT engine enamel. Otherwise, the Metalcast doesn't come out well. Don't ask me how I know this. Then two good coats of the Metalcast.

Used gloss black Rustoleum enamel to paint the letters and lines. Squirted the black paint into the letters and lines using a big syringe from the kitchen that's used to squirt marinade into turkeys. I'll need a new one of those come Thanksgiving. :) Then a tiny paint brush to spread the paint around inside the letters and lines. Q-tips lightly soaked with paint thinner cleaned the black paint off when my coloring went outside the lines.

The Metalcast red anodized is not an exact ruby red match, but its pretty darn close.

Thats pretty cool. I've seen a few sites where they sell the covers for like $250 painted lol
Thanks. And yes, I've seen those sites. Figure I saved a couple of hundred bucks or so.

Respect.

The price of some of the exterior and interior mods are outrageous considering we have access to some of the same materials the vendors use to do the mods. This was well done, and if my car was any other color than Ingot Silver (or black/white) I would emulate this.

You going to do the intake manifold cover as well?

I'm not sure, Vile. I don't want to go overboard and make the engine bay look too busy. I've seen pics of, I think it's RPI's, painted under hood parts which are really nicely done. But one of the pics was of their entire package and it was just way too much.

This weekend I painted the engine cover to kinda match the coil covers. As you can see in the pic, I went with silver on the sides and Duplicolor red anodized metalcast for the center piece. Thought doing the whole thing in red would have been a bit too much of that color.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to paint the letters. Originally was trying with a tiny brush, but black paint would get on my red in places I didn't want it. I would of though paint thinner would take off the extra black plus red. Maybe when I feel up to it, I will retry that.

Nice job on the paint work.
One way to paint recesses is to paint the entire object first and let it fully cure for a few days, then you can just mask off most of the object. Then just hit it with black paint and use a damp stiff sponge to wipe across the top of the part. The little bit of dampness and the stiffness of the sponge will wipe the paint off and leave the black in the recess.

Will do when the weather warms up a bit here and the sun comes back out, Vile.

If you look up in my post, I mention that I used a big turkey syringe to quirt the black paint into the letters and lines. And then used a tiny brush to get the black paint into the nooks and crannies of the letters. Q-tips dampened with paint thinner removed the black paint when I got a little outside the letters. Took a little while but it worked pretty well.

Thanks for all of the positive comments.
