The usual pictures.. It all bolted up perfectly and aligned easily.

First off at the turbo...

Hose connections all lined up well. After a little adjusting it has about 1/4" to 1/2" clearance around everything.

The CIA piping sits low.. Much lower than others. Powder coating is nice wrinkle finish.

the filter.. Note: the filter is just small enough to clamp on and install from the top! No taking the wheel well apart.

Overall shot.. Engine cover is off.. Makes it easier to install and get pictures.

The stock intake system. Yes I put Park/Neutral/Drive stickers on the shifter looking thing on the stock intake. lol.

No videos yet because I left my Mic at work on accident... :frusty:

It sounds like the MRR or any other pipe style cone filter CIA and really sounds nice when you get on it. I have the stock BOV on the car and it can really be heard now. I don't know if it actually added anything SOTP. It sure does sound good.

side note.. I removed the airbox from the stock intake pipe and started the car out of curiosity. It sounds good and if you bought a piece of 4" pipe and filter you could make a relatively inexpensive good sounding CIA yourself.

Thanks for the impressions. My FFTEC parts should be here next Friday according to my tracking number, can't wait to get cracking.

The filter fits down from the top?!

That tips it... likely going FFTec over MMR now. They are the same price, same style, so that one little advantage tips it.

::thumbs up::

Yup.. that is correct.. No going through the wheel well.

MMR and FFTec CAI's are similiar. The MMR is held in place with a bracket attached to the engine. the FFTec uses a bracket that is much more hidden and attaches to the frame using an existing hole underneath. MMR and FFtec take different paths to the filter too. MMR comes up higher. I just like the FFTec because of the single straight pipe visible across the top and not having to go through the wheel well is just nice.

I see the filter sits further over than the inlet tube in the upper grille. Just wondering where it pulls the cold outside air from. I'm glad it sits that far and guarded from the engine, just wondering where it's pulling air from.

Its all pulling from behind the fog light assembly. Very large empty area actually. I assumed I'd have to go in through the wheel well and would be able to check it all out but since I didn't need to It will have to be something to look at at a later date. I can say I didn't notice any difference in AIT from the stock vs FFTec CAI. It just sound soo much better.

yes If I didn't get the CAI I would have chopped the shifter looking resonator thing off.. lol. It just looks silly.

Is the tube a constant cross section?
Its 3.5" from the filter to the 45* silicone elbow which necks down to 3". The remaining pipe is 3" until the silicone coupler at the turbo which reduces it down to match the turbo.

One thing to add to this is the crazy amount of space this opens up under the hood. I swear that massive stock airbox is the same size as the rest of the engine.. lol.

It looks so good, and I assume it sounds like the MMR.

I'm getting this sucker!

I'd buy more, like an intercooler and DP, but I have a wedding coming up to pay for!

I like the MMR more because it has a one piece construction. I have noticed near ambient IAT's with it too at about 30 mph.

soon.. might not be for a couple days though because I'm at the mercy of weather there and its supposed to snow again tomorrow.

Yeah it sounds the same as the MMR video's I've seen. Really sounds nice when you get on it with more turbo noise in general. Only downside is the factory bypass stays open at idle with an audible hiss. Eventually I'll get charge pipes and a good BOV so it won't matter.

OK I've still not made the Vid. I've Been traveling a a lot for work lately but that is done and I can finally catch up. I was planning on making a video this morning but there is a blizzard right now so conditions are less than ideal. Got to say I love how this sounds. With the window cracked open you can hear the turbo get angry and spool and the blow off woosh after you let off. Also its a lot easier to handle in the slick stuff being able to hear the turbo before it gets deep into boost and modulate the throttle. Also I do believe the car is getting better mileage but I'll know for sure next week when I drive to work on my normal schedule so I can compare. Logs that I've taken show the inlet temps seem to be about the same as stock possibly a little better.
