What about bolt on intakes, large valve aftermarket heads and cams?

I'm new here, maybe I'm looking in the wrong sub-forum?

We have a couple intake threads, I know of 4, 2 are CJ IM and 2 are BOSS IM.
As far as heads, the stock heads are so good no aftermarket company see enough room for gains to invest in a new head. There is available larger valves, cams and valve train components. I'm a couple of tenths from the 10s @ 3,835 lbs. and others are knocking on the 8s FI. Our heads from what I know are a cast version of CNC heads. I'm making well over 500HP at the crank that says allot for these heads. That being said I plan on head work and valve train upgrades, but I'm sure the gains will be small compared to the money spent.

Because those are the most common first mods people do I would think. Most people especially with a new car don't go that deep into it.

One thing we know from racing, is that raised ports flow better...well as far as the intake is concerned these runners are as high as any aftermarket pushrod head I've ever seen. Now on the exhaust side they are not raised, I'd like to see what a raised exhaust port would do. I know the engineers know this, so there must not be much gain, as exhaust is under pressure and will get out one way or another, whereas the intake is working with nothing more than atmospheric pressure, that's where the intake/head/cams trick the outside air into joining the party with some gas and spark.

I would think because those are the easiest mods. And theres not a lot of options for intakes specifically made for the s550.

How come 3.73 diff rear ratio is not a popular mod?

It would somehow cure the wrong gears spacing, specially that of the sixth which, frankly speaking, is laughable, at least on the euro cars...

Well, I thought GT's came with a lower ratio...I have to check tomorrow but I'd swear euro spec cars don't come with the 3.73...

Maybe MPG issue euro BS?

I'm an automatic, I went from 3.15s to 3.73s and crazy enough I gained nothing, I went back to my 3.15s and I'm running 11.20s in 3rd gear, with the 3.73s I went through in 4th. My best 60' is with 3.15s, I give allot of credit to Circle D 5C converter for that. And I had the same converter with both gears.

I've seen GT's with 3.15, 3.31, 3.55, and 3.73 options. I have 3.31 stock. I had 3.73 on my 04 GT and that was just too tall of gearing for me.

My understanding for the 15s is that autos get either 3.15s or 3.55s and sticks get 3.31s or 3.73s.

You are correct. I was just saying, I've seen those ratios on GT's as a whole. :)

3.55 is an option for the manual cars in the states. Standard=3.31, optional=3.55, and PP=3.73
