Hey,

For those who have driven both a '15-'17 and a 2018, is the forward visibility much improved with the lower hood in the '18?

What I mean by 'improved forward visibility' is, when sitting in the car, does the hood still look like it is a football field long? Or do you see significantly less of it in the 2018?

I think it may be improved visibility/hood line but my 18 feels substantially "smaller" than the 15's when I drive them back to back.

It feels like I am driving an entirely different car.

I drove my buddies '15 then drove his '18 and and it is vastly improved. The '18 makes the '15 feel like you're sitting behind a Beluga whale.
I'm going from an 2006 S197 and surprisingly the visibility is similar except for over the hood. The 18 has the best visibility of any Mustang I have ever owned and that goes back 38 years. :headbang:

2016 to a 2018

Yes, the visibility has really improved, it’s almost like the hood is non-existent compared to the 2017-prior models.

I find myself pulling my 2018 into my garage slower than before, only because before I was used to using the 2016 hood as my guide... LMAO

I sat in an ‘18 at my dealer and set the drivers seat in the same position as my ‘17. Even though I’m only 5’7” I have the seat in the lowest position. I saw NO difference at all because the hood on both seems to extend flat to the same distance from the base of the windshield then drops to the grille. The ‘18 drops that one inch lower but only forward from the same position on the ‘17. Sure, the power bulge is gone on the ‘18 but honestly for me it made no difference.
After MANY years of driving short-hood cars it took me several weeks to adapt to the long-hood Mustang but now I love it. In fact if I got another car where I saw NO hood out the windshield it would probably freak me out!

Haven't driven the 2018 but I would expect, because it's been lowered at the front, that the visibility would be better, but that you'd have to be careful because the car isn't any shorter. The front bumper is just as far out there but I'm curious as to what kind of visual cues the driver has for judging that? I've got a 2016. I love the car but I've had a couple of close calls. I haven't actually hit anything but discovered when I got out of the car that i was a lot closer than I thought I was. I've got enough time in the car now that I've got it figured out.

How do some of you's sit in your 15-17's? Seat reclined way back elbow out the window one hand at 12 on the wheel looking all gangster? IF anything the 18's would be harder to judge where the nose is. Also wouldn't expect visibility to be much different at all.

The 15-17's do present with a large flat hood out in front of the windshield. They've also got those two large ridges that run down the hood, visually dividing it into three sections. The 18's appear to be much more subdued in that regard. My 2016 GT has turn signal indicators imbedded in the hood vents. I don't mind the feature, I've owned other cars that had this, but they really are useless in this application because, even for someone like me at 6'3" tall, I can't see the right side vent. :)

I get that, however even with a dead flat hood you have pretty much the same visibility out front. And really when you driving, you should be looking far beyond the hood.

Thanks for all the responses. Going to have to go check things out myself, I think.

That's how I felt and even explored swapping for a non-GT hood to eliminate the unsightly vent edges (stamped into the hood would be okay) or at least unplugging the lights since they are sort of waving a flag about bad engineering (can't see one of them). But then I installed a dash-cam. It can see them both. Having proof signals were on (or off) could be useful after an accident with conflicting stories about that.
