Looking at a set of takeoff 265/35R19, 295/35R19 for a Mustang GT w/Performance Pack. Will these fit on the stock wheels without rubbing anywhere?

Or... is there a go-to track wheel for the 6th gen? I'm fine dropping down to 18". I'd probably want to run a lower profile and have a smaller overall rolling diameter if I did, but 18" tires tend to be cheaper...

Arent the PP wheels staggered? 19x9 up front and 19x9.5 in the rear? If you want to be cheap pick up a set of rear PP wheels and put them in front or go for those Apex wheels. They are very nice and pretty affordable. I was in a bind and went with some cheap ass AM racing wheels so i can run 6 pistons soon but next year Apex all the way. Lizardman will those clear GT350 rear brembos?

The OEM PP wheels are HEAVY and are to be avoided for track use. The Apex 18" EC-7 10" ET43 will not clear the GT350 rear brake package, or at least they did not when I tried them on a '16 GT350. The wheels clear but the wheel barrel to caliper clearance is like a mm or so and there was no room for any wheel weights. I guess you could make it work with the 18" EC-7 if you were willing to remove some material from the caliper at the center reinforcing pin, but you will likely have to use outside wheel weights on the face of the wheel to have a chance. The 19" EC-7 would not be an issue with the GT350 rear setup.

I am looking to see if the 4 piston front brakes calipers from a base GT could be adapted with a bracket to work on the rear, you would need to add an ebrake caliper or may have to try the GT350 Rotor/ebrake setup with the 4p caliper and machine a bracket to position the caliper. I have to do some measuring and see what might work. At $90.00 a caliper for the 4p setup it would be a nice and affordable upgrade to the crappy floating calipers in the rear now.

Thanks ddozier for answering the fitment question. I've been wanting to try that on a friends GT350. Good luck on the rear brake job and keep us posted.

Thanks for the info.

What tire sizes are you running on those Apex wheels?

305 square,

NT-01 = 305/35/18
Pirelli Slicks = 305/680/18

Dave
Is this on their 9.5" ET35 wheel as a square setup? Any clearance issues with fenders on coilovers?

Apex EC-7 18" x 10" ET43

No spacer in rear, front requires a 15mm or 17mm spacer and longer studs to work properly. I have a 7/8" drop in the front and rear and no rubbing at the fenders, you could likely run a 315 on 11" wheel but will likely see a little rubbing on a GT. You can always space out your fenders and add about 1/3" to 1/2" of tire to fender clearance if needed or get a set of GT350 clone fenders for some extra room up front. Personally I feel like the 305 is plenty of tire up front but my track buddy with a GT350 likes his 315 square setup.

Their 18" x 11" ET52 works as well but may require a larger spacer up front.

I'd be shooting for the 295/40-18 Hoosiers. Spot on to the stock 27"-ish diameter.

Fitting them up front might take some care though.

A lot of the common 25-26" diameter 18" tires look goofy in the big wheelwells of the s550.

It already looks like a monster truck with the oem wheels and tires...

i've run some 295/40R18 takeoffs for fun. not fun with all that squirm up front, trust me. but they put power down decently due to the massive sidewall.

call me crazy, but i don't think my 25.9" 335/30R18 square setup looks that goofy....... ;)

Looks great.

What did you do for the brake ducting/cooling?
