So I just bought a new GT PP last week, and I've been reading about painting the coil and engine covers. I'm not thinking about sanding and wet sanding and all that, so it all sounds pretty easy....right up until you try to paint the letters.
So I started thinking that perhaps it would be easy to combine high heat engine enamel and plasti-dip.
For instance, paint the entire coil cover with a couple coats of paint and let cure. Then coat the entire coil cover with plasti-dip, and peel it out of the letters leaving the letters with the paint color and the rest the dip color.
Or paint the coil cover, and plasti-dip the letters, then peel it off the surrounding areas. This would leave the covers the paint color with the letters the dip color.
I've dipped emblems before, but I haven't done anything besides that and don't have enough experience to know if this will work.
It sure does sound a lot easier than masking off letters or wiping excess paint off...
