Hood Struts for the EU Mustang

I seem to have been lucky and got an EU spec part with my Steeda order from the US :clap2: (thanks Robbie for confirming this yesterday :hail. I will be mounting them tonight and post pcitures .

I noticed yesterday that my windshield washers did not spray correctly.
Checking the tubing I discovered that it was crushed between the hood and the lower hinge of the passenger hood strut.





I was a bit surprised since I haven't heard of this issue since today. I believe that installation is done correctly, there is only one way to install the brackets so I don't know.

After re-shaping the tube with pliers, I fixed it temporarily by unhooking the two clips and taping the tube a couple cm on the right. This will avoid it hitting the strut and the plastic battery cover. However I have to think to a better looking solution





Don't really want to drill two new holes for the clips!!

Indeed this is pretty dumb if it concerns all the hood struts... Have you tried posting this in a US thread to see what our colleagues in the US have as experience with this?

I think I need to open my hood tonight to check that ...

I can't see how this won't happen to all: washers piping is fixed in that place, with clips before and after the crushed point.

I installed the Steeda hood struts yesterday :clap2:. The installation guide with the pictures is a great help, there is also 2 videos of a UK user on the forum here somewhere which is helpful too.

They look great, and work perfectly, I have no hood displacement problem as YLA G. :hail:

I do not see any crush marks on the windshield washer hose as witnessed on papinist's car. But I have not driven it yet since the installation, might change.

I would have 2 critics though:

• the first is probably more or less valid for all brands: getting the 2 lower brackets in the holes and tightening the bolts while maintaining them in a horizontal position is a real pain...
• on the passenger side the water hose does not hold that extremely well in the hole (maybe not long enough anymore due to the extra 0,3-0,5 cm provided by the Steeda bracket). I swapped the pin with the one above it holds a bit better but I have to look if I can find longer pins because you can easily pull it out. I am pretty sure I did the installation well (removed twice to put it back in place and same result)

All in all great product , I put the Steeda sticker on the strut, do not know if it was intended to go there but it gives a nice look anyway.

You can see here that the length of the pin is kinda a short to be correctly held in place in the OEM hole in the hood.

how come the UK Steeda site has ridiculous prices? The strut tower brace is more than US$100 over the price in the US stores (and shipping etc. pretty much come out to the same as shipping from the UK is also ridiculous... :( )

I think Steeda UK is not a subsidiary but a local reseller.
