  1. Stock Damper/Crank Bolt Specifications

My car is a manual so i just put it on the ground in 6th gear with the e-brake. If you have an auto there is a flywheel tool you can buy that you bolt in place of the starter that locks it. Do not hit with impact.
  2. Stock Damper/Crank Bolt Specifications

All is good for me - about 3,000 boosted miles since the install. No track use but hit the limiter (7,500) a few times on the street (comes quick in first...). I’m on the stock pulley and replaced the bolt and washer with a new stock ford replacement.
  3. Basic Timing Question when Logging

When monitoring and/or logging timing: Is the SPARK PID the actual timing being achieved, or is the actual timing the sum of SPARK and KKNOCK (similar to the fuel trims)? Also - what is the difference between SPARK and SPARKADV? Thanks in advance (sweet pun).
  4. Crankshaft snout snapped

Exactly this. You better be a pro engine builder or a machinist to get it spot on spec. The average joe (and definitely the dealership) do not have the measurement tools to get the precision required. I was in the midst of my whipple install when i read this tread. I went to the dealer and...
  5. Gen3 Whipple Cal Datalog Question - Knock

I didn't realize this was an option in Flare. I turned it on and i see now that i have negative knock (the ecu is adding timing to the tamed down spark tables). So it is definitely my fuel. I'll try some boostane with the regular tune and see how that goes. Thanks so much!
  6. Gen3 Whipple Cal Datalog Question - Knock

I've got a 2017 with the Gen3 stage 2, running the Whipple Cal. I live in BC, Canada which notoriously has pretty bad fuel. I run 94 octane rated Chevron. Because of this, I bought an nGauge to monitor things like knock etc. On some 2nd and 3rd gear pulls, KNOCK is sustained at 3+, peaking...
  7. ForScan Question for Shaker Pro

So what are others doing? A line-output converter? Seems hokey for high-end systems..
  8. ForScan Question for Shaker Pro

Do i need to flash the ACM with ForScan if i have the Shaker Pro w/ Sub to get "clean" LV outputs? What would be the impact if i left the settings as factory? Looking to tap into the harness and add 3 sets of RCAs - front, rear, and sub. Completely ditching the stock amp. My issue is that the...
  9. Shaker Pro System Upgrade - Speaker Suggestions (Fr/Rear)

This is concerning... i went with a similar setup to you, but with the XD700/5v2. Let me know how it goes with tuning the DSR1 and or amp.
  10. Shaker Pro System Upgrade - Speaker Suggestions (Fr/Rear)

Do you do much tuning with the DSP or basically just use it to get a clean signal?
  11. Shaker Pro System Upgrade - Speaker Suggestions (Fr/Rear)

Would you suggest i just ditch the rear fill and crossovers and run 4 channels to the front stage with the dsp?
  12. Shaker Pro System Upgrade - Speaker Suggestions (Fr/Rear)

I am looking to upgrade the Shaker Pro system in my ’17. It has been over 10 years since I’ve put a system together, so looking for some advice on component selection. I would like to go with a 5 channel amp, a front component set (either 2 or 3-way), 6.5 coax in the rear deck, and of course a...
  13. Whipple install question

The instructions aren't clear on that part and do not match the pictures either. In my kit i had two shrink clamps, two gear clamps, and one pinch clamp. Use either the gear clamp or the shrink clamps at the splice to the stock hose - the sheathing will not fit over the pinch clamp well...
  14. Stock Damper/Crank Bolt Specifications

Thank you sir! Strange that the ARP bolt requires much more torque as well as loctite, and there are still reports of them backing out.
  15. Crankshaft snout snapped

I think another install issue is that people are not checking for the proper interference fit. Even measuring the fit (8-12 tenths of a thou) takes specific tools (micrometer, snap gauges, and/or small dia bore gauge), and they can't be cheap for this tight of a tolerance (wouldn't trust...
  16. Stock Damper/Crank Bolt Specifications

I just completed my OPG/CG install as part of my whipple on my '17. After reading quite a few stories regarding crank failures with the ATI damper/ARP bolt combo (not just on mustangs) i have elected to keep that on the shelf for now and stick with the stock damper and ford crank bolt, since i...
  17. OPG/Timing Install Question

Im performing the OPG install and following the ford service manual (keyway 12 o clock, rotate to 5 o clock, etc). I What i would like to understand, for my own edification, what is the reason for turning the engine over during the removal/reinstall? Why not just set the keyway at 12 o...
  18. Question about tuning the car (Whipple)

For anyone following this thread or reading it at a later date, i was able to work this out with Whipple: There can be problems if you have a non-stock calibration when it comes to downloading the whipple tune using the flair tool If Micromotive (via Whipple) doesn't have the calibration "part...
  19. Question about tuning the car (Whipple)

I have a 2017 and just unpacked the whipple 2.9 kit. Reading through the instructions of the flare tool (getting the Stock Strategy ID), the instructions state to return to the car to a stock tune. I purchased the car used (<5,000 miles). The previous Owner (cannot contact) installed the Ford...
  20. Body not Centered on Chassis?

Good idea, have not clocked the bushings. I think this will be my next move.
