I did look up the design yesterday and that coupling was troubling for me. It's a composite with a rubber grommet. I'm no engineer, so all I can do is talk about something I know nothing about, but this looks like a risky decision. With head or vibration, you could have funny things happening at...
Have any of you inspected the oil pan carefully, I've read recently that it has an integrated oil pickup. I would like to know how it "seals" with the engine, o-ring or what?
I agree with your statement, but really, there's nothing that can be reasonably done after the fact. touch-up paint will never look factory. You would have to repaint the engine bay again. I don't want to judge the tech either, it's really an inevitability of a big job like this done the way...
I also attempted core buyback for the engine. The CSR for Ford told me to talk to SA at dealer, then SA told me reverse. They both came back and said it was not possible as the core was required to go back to Ford if it's warranty claim. Sounds reasonable, but I'm skeptical they are even...
Curious they say "back ordered" in this post. My engine was flown in 2-day air from Memphis. No indication of back order. I think they want so badly to not buy this pos back from me they spent 4k in shipping.
This was my speculation on the potential starvation issue although I agree that with 10 quarts, it shouldn't happen. I didn't pay attention to the oil pickup configuration. There could also be a possibility of the pump pushing pressure but not enough volume at critical RPMs.
Agreed

Update on my motor. I stopped by the dealer and discovered that I not only had the intake valve issue, but also the main bearings are showing significant wear. They are not allowed to take the heads off, so speculation is perhaps a deformed or dislodged valve seat. Again, this is conjecture...
So I got more information from dealer today after I asked them to do a leak down test. It looks like the failure is on the intake valve. What the failure is still unknown. Trying to decide what to do at this point, I'm almost considering taking the car back and doing the work myself or have the...
Yes
Car has only 7k miles and the engine is done, so I have to wait until dealer gets back to me. Also, I misspoke, I have these:
Item: Power Stop 16-1718 Z16 Evolution Ceramic Clean Ride Scorched
Item: Power Stop 16-1853 Z16 Evolution Ceramic Clean Ride Scorched
I used them everyday, no sign of lack of performance, brakes like a beast and zero dust. However, I switch in the original ferodo pads when I track it. I imagine the operating temperature of the track is beyond that of the ceramics.
Thank you for the offer, but I'm probably more interested in an unmodified version. I want to keep it a "street" look for the most part. Thanks again for your offer.
It seems you guys have vouched for Fremont Ford.
It looks like my gt350r's engine is toast. Cylinder 5 has no compression, unknown why as of yet.
It is possible they may do work that is pretty involved and I'm of the opinion that dealers are turnstiles for mechanics.
Does any of you...
2017 GT350R 7k Miles - Engine is kaput, no compression on Cylinder 5. For those that have gone through repairs or buybacks, would you be willing to offer some advice and expertise? Please PM me. I'm at a a weird crossroads with this, I'm almost certain I don't want a car that had engine swap...
To be honest, I don't imagine this would be a hard mod. I took my exhaust down pretty quickly at my friend's shop to install a CF shaft. I think you just need an honest shop and you should be ok.
If there's a point you are trying to make, you should make it objective then. Your assertion to "there aren't any good performing low dust pads out there" is not substantiated objectively.
From an opinion standpoint, the ceramic pads I installed perform just as well as the OEM ferodos on the...
To be honest, I just wish they left the harnesses at least for some of these features, so you could swap in and out if you wanted. I'm surprised at how little options these cars came with. Some of those additional electronics have negligible weight penalty on a 3700lbs car. I would have loved...
I drive my car in the street and the track. I swap pads and wheels for the track, not a major undertaking. The ceramics, I haven't done empirical testing, but they don't seem to show any degradation on the street. I've been running them for nearly a year now. Your suggestion seems valid if one...
