  1. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I'll mention a couple of things for thought. I noticed the new filter end is stamped with "DOWN." Why? Anyone also notice the new throttle body has part number KR3E-9F991-AB stamped on the side when the kit states M-9926-M50B? MY BULLSHIT OPINIONS BELOW I've had many cars with 400+hp...
  2. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

I wish I made anything glorious. Nope. The posts 61 and 62 above mine really won the thread. Getting weird in here. I'm gone.
  3. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

You know, I wish Ford just installed a decent quality lug nut in the first damn place and threads like this weren't necessary. I just spent over fifty bucks and more time than I wanted on this. Maybe it helps others. I mean look at the pictures of the failed lugs. Someone at Ford should lose...
  4. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

Funny, after this conversation I checked my lugs and sure enough one of the front lugs was swollen, and I needed a 21mm to remove it instead of 13/16. Maybe it'll swell up more so that won't even fit? Time to replace them before a flat some rainy night. These wheels have only been off once, by...
  5. Wide open throttle

A mysterious rattle, a lot of us have one. I've been with service managers in new Mustangs that have them. These are not quiet cars. Some kind of code scanner is not a bad idea. You'll use it again and again. You should have no codes stored. But let me ask you, is it at a particular RPM or at...
  6. A little story about cooling and grill shutters. Really I just wanted to remove the bumper again!

I removed my shutters on my 2018 GT, only keeping the little motor (actuator) that opens and closes them connected to the harness and zip-tied out of the way behind the steel bumper beam. See I was installing a license plate holder and tow-hook. So anyway, my dumb ass threw the whole assembly...
  7. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

Agree. I also would have liked the 91+ octane calibration without the CAI, since I also like the stock airbox. But you can't have everything. I think nobody has any regrets I could see. Some minor issues. It isn't a monster change in power, more in character, since the tune is ultimately pretty...
  8. Oil Level low! Do I need to worry?

I was noticing that Jay Leno owns a lot of Italian stuff, V12s, etc. and has engine builders and parts fabricators on staff. His YouTube show is excellent by the way. He is of the opinion that you warm up the car enough to get the "needles off the pegs" before shenanigans. Our cars, being way...
  9. GT500 & Mach-E On Track @ Sonoma Raceway

The future is going to be interesting. I'd love to see lap times by sector. I know powerful, heavy AWD cars handle quite different, but some other high HP trucks (Trackhawks, X5, etc) have the capacity to surprise. I'm thinking of CD Lightning Lap. And of course eventually a proper EV Mustang...
  10. Very low low-end torque/power

My 2018 procedure: Press the button to turn off TC. Rev to 4,000, just to be sure. Let out the clutch. Floor it. Hold redline for a hundred feet, or until the rear steps out. Look at the stripes and smoke cloud in the rear view. Leave before someone calls the cops. If you can't do this, I blame...
  11. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I have a rattle at 2k that sounds a lot like ping. Just make sure it really is ping, since these cars have a noise that can fool you. The easy way to know is that ping occurs under load, not at idle. Good luck. I want this kit and am reading this thread closely.
  12. Want one of these for the Mustang

Changed my mind. I'm now hardwiring a USB dongle (for a dash cam) and RJ11 (for a Valentine One) into the fuse box in the passenger footwell with a couple of add-a-fuses. I want full ampacity, and there's also plenty of spare space down there. Then I'll run their respective wires up the...
  13. Why won’t my 2019 GT 6M let me do donuts?

To break the diff with stock tires? You should slide forever before you break. Sticky tires plus power adders are what breaks rears. Shit the car even has a line lock now. I broke only one diff in my life, some small ring gear open-diff Chevy, going backwards while in drive practicing many...
  14. A/C Evaporator Factory Defect

Before you leave I'm interested how you managed to sell a 2017 "POS" with a broken AC. Did the buyer not care in your "hot" location or did you cover it up like an unreliable person. Please enlighten us sad american car buyers.
  15. 2021 Mustang is Second Most American-Made Vehicle

This is thoughtful. I would only disagree that the plants are to the detriment of workers in Mexico. Though maybe you meant in the US. NAFTA requires companies to call out parts not made in the USA or Canada, and thus the US and Canada get mixed together. It gets hard then to determine what...
  16. 2021 Mustang is Second Most American-Made Vehicle

What about computer chips? If Ford was affected by computer chip shortages it would make sense that other manufacturers were too. You can't make those in-house.
  17. Why won’t my 2019 GT 6M let me do donuts?

Check that advance trac really is off. If you have to restart after a stall or something it comes back on. Annoying. Check if launch control is limiting your Max RPM. Dump it at 4000, smoke it until redline, and just *try* not to do a donut. I dare you. If you have an automatic it's even...
  18. Want one of these for the Mustang

Anyone have experience with this for the Mustang? This came at me from an F150 owner, and the main site says this. Amazon states Mustang and other cars as well. A few reviews say yes and one answered question says no. I have the mirror with the rear plug (2018) but I've seen some cars that look...
  19. Radar Detector mounting locations / pics

"Constant false alarms?" My V1 is typical. Like all detectors, you turn down the built-in logic you get more falses, but also more information. I tend to think the V1 got it right omitting location awareness because a flaky GPS is worse than none at all. And they are all inaccurate. But if...
  20. Radar Detector mounting locations / pics

There's great apps for the iPhone. Even the free official V1 app is great. The phone acts as a remote so you can run dark, and even incorporates the speed detection so the detector won't sound if below a set speed. This was formerly a separate part that they still sell that becomes unnecessary...
