Other things I found interesting on the car. The hydraulics that control ride height collapse the "helper" spring when in track mode. Shut the car off, car rises. First question he couldn't answer was whether or not that system runs off the belt, or an electric motor. The concern I had, was what...
From my buddy who has already been offered to drive it: "It will be the slowest lap that car ever see's" LOL
What is crazy, when you look from behind the steering wheel, it basically looks like a normal Mustang, then you pop your head out and realize each fender is 5" wider than expected. Or...
Yes. It will be driven in anger once broken in and PPF put on. So I will be at the track for the first outing, and probably plenty more, as we are members at the same track.
A friend has his delivered yesterday. Absolutely beautiful car. And Ford goes all out on delivery, sending a racing driver to walk through the car, answer questions not only from the owner, but all the people like me asking technical questions I knew he wasn't allowed to answer LOL
The green is...
I admittedly can't definitively see treads, but they are usually impossible to see without a 60 FPS camera anyways.
The curb protector is what gives it away to me. Both cars have them, and I don't know of a slick that has a curb protector.
I can see the curb protectors like a Cup2R has in the pics and video. I don't know of any slick that has curb protectors. I just can't see the grooves real well.
We're going to find out for sure here real soon.
Cup2r's are a solid shoulder with a few faint grooves, which are impossible to see in a video, especially if it's not shot in 60 fps.
Wonder if we have to now claim the GT40 wasn't a Ford either since it was refined, and developed by Shelby, with the backing of Ford when Ford couldn't get it done.
Some of the interesting bits I found different on the EVO vs the Gen 1. Canards are bigger, and there is two more. The fender vents are bigger. End plates on the wing are contoured on the EVO. It's really hard to tell, but almost looks like the hood vents are more sculpted, or possibly bigger...
There is the usual wheel bearing issues (Less of an issue in the second gen S550), wheel speed sensors failing, probably need to check the battery, and check the bushings for play. Potentially the valve cover leak that can develop. I think that is most common on the drivers side.
Then you have...
Ford rented the track. Two GTDs showed up. Are you saying Ford rented the track for someone else to use in a highly modified GTD? Who has the pockets to do that, then get Ford to pay for track time? Let's be realistic here. The video speculates this is an EVO version of the GTD, whatever that...
The GTD, with relatively minor upgrades, has just posted a 6.41 ring time. I never in my life would have expected this pig to be closing in on a sub 6.40 time.
Nice work Ford, now let's see the ZR1X with a professional driver!
The very first one (I think it was rear camber arms and toe links). That was the first step down a long, slippery slope which hasn't gotten any less steep, or less slippery for that matter.
