So I've been informed (through Ford) that 2021 gen 3 5.0l has a piston skirt redesign from its preceeding model years to reduce the diesel type knock "some have".
Has any member seen a 2021 engine apart? Got pics of either 18-20 pistons vs 2021 to be posted? Any insight would be appreciated.
This is concerning since Ford has stated in said tsb that this shity Diesel type knock at idle is not an issue and is normal characteristics of the gen 3 coyote. So now for 2021 the gen 3 has not changed yet the Tsb hasn't been extended to include this model year.
How many members have this...
I've been monitoring Oasis to see Tsb 20-2023 (diesel like engine knock at idle) to be extented into 2021 MY as Ford did in 2020. There is no change to the 2021 gen 3 coyote that I can see yet the Tsb doesn't cover this year. What did Ford change to repair said "normal operating characteristic...
Hello copperjohnc your post is well put together and informative. I'd like to add the OE pp2 to my pp1 as well but without purchasing the upper pp1 splitter.
My question to you is if I drill out those holes on the pp1 splitter using the lower pp2 as a template will it work?
If you have a...
Minor amount but inconsistant. 1st top up was half a litre at 2500kms, then a quarter litre at 1300kms then no top up required at 1400kms which was my oil change interval.
I am experiencing the same thing, mild case of the BBQ tick with fresh oil only. On my second change now, dissapointed to hear it back after months of driving without it
Don't work for Ford anymore. And yes it's not up to the customer whether they get a short block, long block ect....
It's not even up to the Tech as to what Ford approves as a repair.
Wasn't trying to scare the guy, brining an awareness to a potential situation.
Just my personal experience as a Ford Master Tech.
I could be in a similar situation with my GT and would prefer not having the car taken apart if not really needed.
It most likely will not be the best tech for the job since those jobs pay little under warranty. The more talented techs won't want to loose on a warranty replacement engine.
Sadly lt may be an apprentice doing the bulk of the work.
Ford doesn't have a say I whom the dealer selecrs to do the...

No issues should arise from changing t
If there are no problems such as gear or bearing damage pre existing, changing the fluid now would not create any new issues at all. It's not like changing automatic trans fluid on a very high milage transmission. In fact it will help overall component...
Wow, your kms are more than I'd expect based on the year and how little most people in Canada drive theirs.
I don't have the BBQ tick. It has ticks as it warms up but not of a concerning nature.
I've got what is described in the Tsb 20-2023 the diesel knock. It's brief shortly after start up...
