That's a pretty convincing argument. I'm just not sure if I want to spend the money on this car.
I may take it back to the track this Saturday to see what happens. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
That's a little silly. Come on now. Could it happen in some scenario, sure, but applying that outcome as expected to every scenario is a bit much. I'm sure you've read this excerpt from Lightning Lap 2016 about the V6 Camaro...
Based on what I've seen at the track, it takes more than that.
At a minimum, it would have to be a base car with an E85 tune and headers. Stock SS traps range between 114 and 116 depending on traps and transmission. The last intake, E85 tune, axleback 5.0 I saw running was trapping 112-113...
How telling this quote is, lol (2/16). Camaro passed Mustang in sales in September.
I'm not sure the 5.0 is really close at all. The V6 Camaro 1LE was quicker than the 5.0 in Lightning Lap.
Grabber Blue? No hood vent blinkers?
Why are we saying job 1 will be so late?
The Mustang is priced more favorably, but the Camaro is much more car. It's content is probably worth what they're charging, but one can't necessarily see that unless they dig deeper. For example, getting a stock Mustang 5.0 to match a 6G SS in a straight line will require 3-5k (parts plus...
I may try and go back this weekend if they track is open. Your trap is noticeably better than mine. 3.31 rear?
I may just trade it for a 6g auto SS next fall. I've been down the heavy modding path with my S197, and it's a pain. I'd need at least OPGs for F/I. May want to just start with a...
In case anyone is wondering how little is gained from a PP1 tune, here are my stock -> tuned dynos. See below for 4th and 5th gear pulls. This was done on a Mustang dyno, and I usually dyno in 5th on a Dynojet, but the numbers were way too wacky. On other Mustang dynos my 5th gear numbers are...
Yup, that was our thought as well, but I couldn't sit around on the dyno for another 1.5 hours and let it cool for 'perfect' conditions. It is what it is. This is probably wrong, but can't cat protection dump up to 30% more fuel?
Alright guys, went back to the dyno today to see the gains from PP1. I am disappointed.
4th gear went from 386 to 392/393. 5th gear went from 418 to 422. As you can see, it looks like it's going super rich up top. All numbers are corrected, but it was warmer today (mid 60s), and we think...
They did my old build. 500.4whp in an S197 6MT.
4k on my old car including cams, springs, opgs, labor and dyno tune.
GT350 mani. is holding it back from 500whp. S550s need to do ported CJ setups and 500whp will come.
I mean, most competent tuner can ensure there are no drivability issues. Some of the tuners that're having issues with the GT350 TB just need to put in the time. I ran a ported CJ and monoblade setup on my '14 5.0 when it was bolt-ons and kept the manifold setup when I did cams. Zero stutter...
This to me says go CJ and drop the motor, or stay stock manifold. Only 3.73 and up would make sense with the massive loss in low end under 5500. I understand working valves would've fattened up the GT350 manifold curve, but ouch!
