I have read all of this thread and, while initially thinking something was wrong with Livernois, I have come to respect their position. I am torn between Livernois and COBB/MAP/Adam tuning because I seek excellent driveability over any racing considerations (most of the time max power numbers...
The Texas Hill Country is nationally famous for the undulating, rollercoaster-like roads with almost no traffic and cool towns for meals, etc. For the N. Dallas area I don't know (I think maybe too built-up and flat), but maybe someone else in the group might have some suggestions.
Yep, I'm the one with the 50-yr trimmed, tinted magnetic 2.3T and getting a MAP exhaust installed next week .
Just got back from a 600-mile trip to Fredricksburg......I took the route I-30 to I-20 just past Weatherford and got on 281 S., then 377 to 16 down to Fredricksburg. WHAT A BLAST...
The Mustang in entirely about personal choices. When the Mustang was first introduced at the World's Fair in N.Y. in 1964, I was there wanting that car so bad (bit too young and no money, mostly no money). It did not have an 8-cyl engine. The "Pony Car" was conceived as a personal sporty car...
For many years, the 6 has not been respected by the 8 crowd. Modding a six for power was not a very cost-effective or common occurrence. Now with the turbo-4 (not for the first time by Ford), a new highly mod-friendly performance engine has rejoined the lineup. Having a 6 and a 2.3T, I can...
I have a 2011/6/auto and a 2015/2.3T/auto.... like them both, but the 2.3T is a bit more fun on the street with it's huge torque down low and especially with the premium "drive modes".
I've been following this thread for the past few days.... I still think a DFW area get-together is a very good idea. Not too familiar with Plano area (been to COBB and cars-and-coffee) so I should have no problem finding the current location. So please add me to the list.... see you all on the...
Went 400 miles with dealer gas (87?), then put in 93 for 2nd tank (400 miles). Can't really see too much difference in MPG, but I think power is a bit better at the higher revs (is it the gas or just break-in?). I'm getting ready (saving up) for the MAP tuning/upgrades also. I've seen a few...
I've had my 2.3T for 2 months now...... worst MPG I've gotten is stop-and-go traffic in the low 20's. In normal mixed (suburban/hwy in Dallas/Ft.Worth) I get a consistent 26-28. With straight hwy @70 I routinely get about 34. These numbers have been confirmed for other drivers also. Maybe...
Thanks Adam...
Since I'm looking at the MAP catted turboback, intercooler and AP/tune, the tune will accommodate the mods. Sounds like I am ready to go bite the bullet.
I've been reading all the threads getting ready to order the COBB AP (as well as other mods) from MAP (Adam has a great rep). MAP recommended COBB facility in Plano to do installs for me as well as do a custom tune..... but I am thinking maybe Adam's tune may be best for me (street not track)...
I've had my new "Stang for 6 weeks now and still trying to find a good shop for helping with mods. I checked out COBB in Plano ... they are not ready with their mods yet (except for their AP tuning); Gearheads in Arlington doesn't reply to my requests for info about installing mods; other shops...
My wife and I fell in love at first sight at the same time.... with the 2015 that is. We see more expensive cars all the time (like BMWs, etc), but without much emotion. When you're a senior citizen, this kind of excitement is very much welcomed and hard to find. We both get a re-charge every...
Thanks to you all on this thread.... it is very informative. Living in Texas, the upgrade of the intercooler is a must, and even more so combined with a tune. I too think the MAP or Mishimoto looks optimal for sporty driving and non-racing. I am also still checking out the charge pipes/kit...
The overall flexibility of the tranny and modes make the car very adjustable so each driver gets the feel/responsiveness etc that suits them and their driving conditions. This is very much more important than many realize, and this customization is just as important as the cosmetic mods or the...
I've been exploring this also. It took me a few weeks to get a better idea of how it works (the car manual is vague).
The driving MODE is selected by the toggle on the dash. The transmission gear-shift selector ("S-Sport") is actually just the alternative shift map (from "D") for more...
I think Ford deliberately employed a very conservative tune on the 2.3T to begin it's role as the eventual replacement for the 6 without encroaching on the Coyote's territory. With an intercooler upgrade and a moderate tune, the 2.3T does indeed move into the average 8-cyl performance zone...
