Just noticed this thread .... very interesting perspective! I've had my 2.3T for a month now. It has more than met my expectations. In Texas, driving a few hundred miles @75 MPH is not unusual. I have been getting about 34 MPG (US) on the hwy (I was getting about 28 with the 2011 Mustang 6)...
A tuned pre-Coyote against a tuned 2.3T would be an interesting match-up. My guess would be that the 2015 2.3T would out-handle and be more responsive on public roads (huge torque down low thru mid), but the 07 GT would eventually gain and hold the lead in a straight-line (hi-rev/top-end) race.
Been reading about 500+ HP so far..... but that is not really practical (you want that amount of power, you need to start with the Coyote). However, with an upgraded intercooler and tune, you can shock the 6's, surprise Chevy Camero SS's and most pre-Coyote 8's. I also think all the 2015...
I've got the EB/prem/auto and am very comfortable with the standard seats (270 lbs)...they are very adjustable (the Recaros are not). As for engine....well I tested the Coyote against the EB (already had a 2011/6). The Coyote is THE engine to get for any kind of racing...no need to elaborate...
Just visited my local COBB facility here in Plano Texas..... I too like the flexibility of the COBB tuner for my EB. No matter what the performance tune, the stock intercooler is a bit overwhelmed if you push the engine much (the engine mgt will adjust the timing to cool the engine down...
An impressive stable of superior vehicles.... each a standout in it's category. For those of us without a four-car garage, the Mustang still represents one of the best all-around vehicles to own (and drive).
Just joined the forum. Picked up my 2.3T last month. It's a magnetic premium/auto/50-yr pkg. I have been having a blast breaking it in this past month. I've also gotten quite a few compliments on the styling/looks. The way the auto works (in Sport/manual-mode) has erased any regrets over...
I'm planning on a sport exhaust for my 2.3T (looking at Borla and a few others right now), along with a downpipe, catch-can and a tune. I'm still debating the intercooler upgrade. (getting almost as much rear-wheel torque as a Coyote with these mods). Not for racing, just for the improved...
Just read this thread .... very interesting. Why not just end it with saying the 2.3T Mustangs are very cool cars that are fun and affordable to drive every day. Cars like Camrys are not cool or fun to drive, that's why we have Mustangs regardless of engines. Arguing 0-60 and 1/4 mile...
