My head unit was doing something similar when I had it connected but it wasn't bolted into the dash. It was like there was a bad connection that caused the screen to do this.

With my limited experience, trying to change the drive mode turn on the AC Fan to full blast. Toggle again turns it off. Toggle again turns it on. But I have the Premium with 4 button toggles, not sure if that matters. Too many little bugs.
