  1. New install.... baby steps

Just a satisfied update! I have finally reached a point where I can say the sound is very satisfying. System is configured as: Front doors - JL Audio C2 coax, no longer running as coax but as mids. 80 - 4500Hz A-pillar tweeters - JL Audio C2 tweeters, 4500Hz and up Rears - None Sub - JL Audio...
  2. New install.... baby steps

I have the base 6 speaker so I only needed the 1st programmer just to convert the speaker level to line level and remove the bass roll off. OEM's programmer would run through the LED sequence as designed finishing with a solid green LED. For some reason my ACM would not reset. I worked with...
  3. New install.... baby steps

    Thanks for the advise Mumbles.
  4. New install.... baby steps

Well the entire install has been rethought. I had built a combination amp rack-sub enclosure and just didn't care for the look of monstrosity in the trunk. I was sooo unhappy with the front stage. I had issues with my car accepting the programming from OEM's programmer. This includes a blown amp...
  5. Where do you all shop for best deals on car audio?

I would stay away from Amazon. I purchased a JL amp from one of their vendors and got a significant discount. Then that I had issues with the amp about 40 days after the install. The vendor is not an authorized seller so I have to send the amp to them who in turn sends it to JL. I was quoted a...
  6. 2017 GT350: ANC issue or what..?

Relak, I really like the idea of a sub in the spare tire wheel. But I have to ask, do you really get much out of the 6" JL with the sound of the GT350 exhaust? Did you consider or measure for any larger models? Thanks for the feedback.
  7. upgrade just speakers

I'm not sure of who did it but it was a JL Audio XD600/6. It was a clean install.
  8. Keep the Mustang? Or......

Pay your Mustang off! Then keep making that payment to your new/next car fund. Then pay cash! Mean while save your money and invest. What is more important to you, an early secure retirement, taking care of your family or a car that you will spend 2% of your life in while you own it? No brainer...
  9. Big Three Upgrade - S550

I like the idea of running it all the way from the amp to the battery. I don't no if there are any cons to it. My understanding is not that the chassis can't carry the current but the factory battery to chassis connection is the weak link. You run a proper sized power wire to the amp and ground...
  10. Big Three Upgrade - S550

I ran a 4ga from the battery negative to the passenger side strut tower. There is already a spot there being used as a ground so the attachment looks factory. Not sure if it does anything for me as I am only running a JL XD 700/5 but I had the wire on hand so it cost me nothing. I would say it...
  11. Door Panel Help

I picked up a 4 piece pick set from Harbor freight for $1.99.
  12. G2 Caliper Paint in Magnetic Metallic Gray

I did mine in black behind a black wheel. The caliper just dissapears and that is what I was looking for. I have a V6 so my calipers are not the large ones and I stuck with an 18" wheel as I feel that the larger wheels make the calipers look like toys. I did consider a grey though, I think it...
  13. Audio guru ?

At this point I have only used OEM's programmer to remove the factory processing. I have never messed with the time alignment before and don't think I will this time either. The passive crossovers do have level adjustments but that can also be done at the amp if I use that as my crossover,
  14. Upgraded the 3.5 door speaker???

Jbailer, below is a version of what should be a good replacement for all of the front stage(minus center if you have it). I would expect that it could be done for less money or better parts. Either way woofer, mid and tweet. But it is a write one check and get what you need system(+ amp)...
  15. Audio guru ?

Looking for opinions on possible component/amp hook up options. My amp is a JL XD700/5 (5 ch amp). Components are JL C3-650(2 way). Specs for components are 75 watt RMS, JL recommends 25-150 RMS. Sub is a JL 10W3v3 10" HO factory enclosure. Stock 6 speaker system that has be given the OEM...
  16. Upgraded the 3.5 door speaker???

Hextall and Sergey, Exactly as I have been thinking... If everyone had a chance to hear a decent system(parts, install, tuned) there would be a better understanding and something to strive for. Some will perceive any change or higher dB as better. Still learning on my side after 30 years as a...
  17. amp question

I agree with mumbles for best bang for the buck being adding the sub. Made me think though... Keep the systems balanced. Once I got my bass dialed in is when I really listened to the whole music. My bass may have been to much or too good for the rest of the system leaving the highs and mids...
  18. Aftermarket Intake Plenum/Manifold

I was watching the video of the Ginetta using our intake and making crazy power. No idea on the tb size. I would expect that it is ported but also the tb extension could be explored by those crafty enough. [ame]
  19. Upgraded the 3.5 door speaker???

I would think the different impedance would alter the crossover points. I don't know how complex the crossover is but I would expect the mid to be band passed. I would like to hear the stock mid vs. a "full range". And as mentioned the efficiency does play a part.
  20. amp question

I added a 3 ch amp with a sub to the base 6 speaker system. The low end improved drastically as expected but the fronts with 75wpc cut a 80hz was not very impressive. It just sounded flat and lifeless. I can only believe it is the speakers. I have moved on to OEM's harness and line level upgrade...
