I'm still holding off on installing mine until the wiring issues are sorted out, but I did manage to make some progress on getting the stock intake cover to fit. I still need to make some brackets to secure it, but as you can see it is certainly doable.
Yes it was printed from that drawing. The chrome ring is removed as well as the horse. There is a lip that fits into the groove where the chrome ring was.
The airbag cover is held on with 6 "clips". They are actually protrusions that are made into the airbag and clip into the airbag cover. On the one that I designed it is only touching the airbag cover around the perimeter where the stock chrome ring is. I could design the pins to be stronger...
I am planning on using the imrc setup on mine, but had a few free minutes so I drew up some delete brackets and 3d printed them. Sure beats the ridiculous price of the $60 pieces.:cool: I'll already have them handy in case I decide to go the delete route.
Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to mess around with it. The first full one I printed for a test fit was blank. I will try to get some pics of what it looks like with the blank cover.
I searched for a replacement and didn't come up with anything. I have seen a few people that have taped some different style homemade covers on but I didn't like the look of those. I decided to draw and 3d print my own. It will attach just like the stock logo. I still need to make a few...
There are dealers selling them for around $243, but if you look above the sale price it will say list price $368.28.
I'm sure its only a matter of time before we see a price increase though.
