I wasted a lot money with tuners I got hp tuner and started tuning my own transmission luckily my local tuner tuned the power settings this was on a dyno and I tuned the transmission myself with his help and hp tuners forum
Something I learned about tuning auto transmission is it's more about tuning the torque converter characteristics. And the use of the car. Do you drag race roll race or just a better tune for daily driving. I tune my own 6r80 using hp tuner and tips from their forum
I see what you're saying the truck manifold peaks about where the 15-17 gt manifold does the 18 gt makes power and holds it longer in the upper rpm which is awesome if you're drag racing
I think if I was looking for power beyond 7000 rpms yes I would lose out on top end I plan to leave my shift rpms stock and adjust from there. Plus I'm pretty good at tuning a torque converter now I use hp tuner I can tune so that there's not alot of slip with a looser converter when normal...
I watch that video and if I am correct the truck manifold kept up with the 18 gt manifold until it was north of 7000 rpms where the truck manifold power dropped. so if you're shifting say 6600-6700 or 7000 the truck would be what you want correct me if I'm wrong.
Again I'm hoping to have a set with better lower and mid range power while maintaining stock to slightly better top end. I don't track my car just some stop light fun and roll fun with my friends
I got the converter at a good price. I was thinking that with the converter and f150 intake I would be in the heart of the power band of the intake all the time. Guess I will give the 18 gt a try
What rpm are you shifting at. From what I gather those manifolds like the 350, cobra jet, boss and even the 18 have to shift at very high rpms to see benefits
