Turns out it was the LED sidelights that were causing the issue (they actually came back on today before I took the car in but were both flickering). Odd as they were the exact spec posted on the forum. So... yellowy original bulbs put back and all is well in the world.

Just noticed this... When the light switch is fully off, the DRLs are on When the lights are on at the first position, no lights work When the sidelights are selected, the headlamps come on And headlamps work as normal. Car in for service Friday so will raise it then...

The Black edition was mentioned in Auto Express a while back... they call it Shadow Black ...but WTF... it's available in these colours: Platinum White, Triple Yellow, Race Red and Grabber Blue. Anything but black. Henry Ford would be turning in his grave...
