Yeah, you just pull it off yourself, you're going to pull the paint up with it. My friend runs one of the largest XPEL shops in the Florida area, and have seen him pull off film from Ferraris, Bentleys, Corvettes, etc. without any issues at all. It's all in the technique....

Not if you use a reputable film (XPEL) and a reputable shop...

Full XPEL wrap is a great idea. For a 50k+ car, I'd do it. The fact that you can run it through an automatic car wash if you want without risking swirls and RIDS is pretty cool.

Those Pilot Super Sports are some of the best rain tires I've ever used. Tons of grip in the dry and wet.

Not to go off topic, but what don't you like about the GTI? I just got my first VW product, a 2012 DSG GTI and honestly I love it; fit and finish is great, good performance, practical, gets awesome gas mileage.
