Totally agree - it cheapens the look. I can think of two reasons they may have done that. The first and most likely one: "future proofing" the centre console. They'll be able to strip out that big bezel and fit in a larger screen in later years without doing a remodel of the rest of the centre...
Are those toggles real metal? Because in that photo they look like cheap painted plastic.... matte aluminum would have been a much classier look for the console controls' metal trim.
The Toyobaru twins - love 'em but their power is too low for them to be worth it for me at the moment based on a few test drives. I'll be comparing the new GT with the (hopefully more powerful) 016 mid-cycle refreshed twins. If the GT is up at 85%+ of the twins' handling and does not feel too...
Thanks fionic - best clip yet for showing the relative handling of the 2 variants.
It appears that the one with the lighter camo at the back end has a more buttoned-down suspension - less lateral and vertical body motion over uneven surfaces. We may be looking at track vs street versions...
Clever choice of parking companions there - a gigantic luxo-barge from the 90s (Town Car?), a humungous pickup, and a full-size Taurus lol. Try parking the Stang next to something a little more reasonable - say a WRX or a GTI, even a Corvette (which is btw a full 11" shorter) and you'll see how...
All these renders are a bit unrealistic in their NASCAR-like ground clearances - they'd need a mechanism to jack up the front end just to get up normal multilevel garage ramps, something similar to what they have now on some supercars.
I've been in the M235i a few times and it seems the perfect size for a 2 door coupe. Cost aside that puts it far ahead of the new Mustang for me all else being equal. My 15 Mustang GT test drive will have to be very impressive for the car to overcome its size disadvantage and get my cash.
Years...
Really late to the party on this, but I think that's the best looking rendition of the new Mustang I have seen, real or imagined. Perfect balance of brute force and subtlety, and I just love the colour combo they've hit on. I'd order that in a heartbeat..
Much of the above may be true but there are less tangible benefits from performance setups that can be felt even on the street. Case in point: the base C7 vs. the Z51 C7 (the latter being the rough equivalent of the GT with PP). Several reviews which have compared the two noted a big difference...
The sound file is self-identified by Ford as the GT - just click on the downloads button on the Ford media site linked above. Are there people here who really think Ford would screw up so badly they'd mislabel the Eco as a GT?
Maybe we should be thankful there is no DI on the Coyote - it's a recipe for crud buildup on the valves unless used with a dual-injection system. Just ask VAG and BMW owners. I'd gladly sacrifice 15 hp in exchange for not having to do an expensive walnut-shell engine cleanout every 50K miles.
Thanks for the latest video!
On the other video with both cars, the 045 sounded quite a bit deeper in pitch than the 017, enough to make it seem like they had 2 different engines. Here the differences are far less obvious, the 045 sounds much more like the 017.
Re the new video -
Personally I preferred the deeper sound of the other car in the earlier video, plate starting with 045 (the other tester had a simpler all-black diffuser/tailpipe area). It had a deeper less raspy tone. Anyone know what the engine differences would be?
