While the New Mustang is on my list, it's not a highly probable buy because of its massive size -- I was looking for the new one to lose the rumoured 8" of length.
On list of potential acquisitions:
M235i (I would wait for the upcoming rev-matching manual)
M2
Mk VII Golf R
C7 with Z51...
Thanks for sharing that - I could see that happening easily myself. The problem is I also have visions of doing a few track days and I know I'll never master heel-toe downshifts -- with paddles you can get perfect trail-braking downshifts every time....
Another option is to go with a car that...
Granted it will do so better than a very dark color but I think a lot of the "contour highlights" in those photos are due to the low position of the sun on the horizon - look at the ground shadows.
A color choice would be easy now after seeing that Guard above - what a perfect match for the car. The wheels are an excellent match to it as well. Yellow looks pretty good too.
Besides being wrong about acceleration, this statement is also ridiculous on the face of it when it comes to tracking the cars. There is no way that the stock GT with PP is going to match the C7/Z51's phenomenal 1.05 Gs of lateral grip or its sub-100 ft 60-0 braking ability. A reasonable guess...
CNET - the source to go to for sports car reviews.
Looks like there are acres of that "cheap hard plastic" on the base Mustang too - only way more of it because it's so much bigger. As to the quality - I never contended that the quality of construction was better on the BRZ, just the...
Yes - but only if you are willing to drop the big coin for the tech package (and maybe the PP as well)- otherwise you get this cheap looking mess which makes the BRZ interior look upscale:
Thanks for the pics, but I would not put much weight on the accuracy of the color tones coming from that cell camera, it makes guard and magnetic look virtually identical - need to see high-quality shots in daylight.
Whatever the paint is, the car photos posted above are almost certainly in the same color - it's only the varying white balances of the show lighting that makes them look different.
No DCT, but if they have a hard-lock on every gear but first for the auto clutching to eliminate slippage loss (can't remember the term for this ATM - need more sleep!) the way the new Vette does then it should feel quite a bit like a DCT in operation and shift quickly.
Anyone know for certain the color of that convertible in the last photo - Guard or Magnetic? I'd think the latter but it's hard to tell on Ford's 2015 visualizer page.
At this point I think production changes are extremely unlikely barring some catastrophic finding in road testing of the prototypes - too close to production startup.
+1. Compared to my present car - a 2560 lb coupe - driving the current Mustang feels like piloting a Sherman tank. I was looking for a new Mustang that would give more of a FRS/BRZ immediacy to the driving experience (but with a lot more power than the twins); I fear simply adding the IRS alone...
