Does anyone know if the GT350 production requires any special off-the-line processes other than post assembly line checks and tests?
I seem to remember that it takes about 20 hours to assemble a Mustang but I know they get queued in batches and inspected before leaving.
Yeah, we assumed that the rear bumper beam dropped from the R since it is no longer on the order guide. Let's hope they didn't drop it. It would be a nice upgrade for later on for any S550.
Why would they do this? They've never done it before. Even back in 1965, Shelby GT350 parts were huge sales over the counter in the parts department. And that has never changed.
There are enough tools out there to find a fake that it doesn't matter if someone makes a clone. It's just another...
During the years when the 95R/00R wheels were in production (yes, I know those are aluminum and we're talking about CF) you could buy them for $125/$175 each. At the time the best bang for the buck in a strong, light and big (for the time) wheel for track use. I still own four sets and have been...
The only creature comforts I'm missing out on by getting the Track Pack instead of the Tech pack are the dual zone climate control, sync/sirius, and what else? I don't have the list handy. I'll give up all of that to get the coolers and the alacantara seats over leather.

Fastest time for NASA American Iron at Laguna Seca from last year was 1:39.
They (NASA) are actually racing there this weekend.
Again, AI cars are making about 9:1 power to weight depending on whether or not they run ABS and what chassis. So we're talking about ~3600 lb cars making 375-390...
And I bet you can buy a set after the cars hit the streets for a lot less. It will be interesting to see if these become an inexpensive popular mod like the Cobra R wheels did in 95 and in 2000 or if they stay high. My bet is that the first sets will go for $5-7K and then the price will drop...
I've been weighing the same exact thing. My GT350 will be a daily driver so that means AC and a radio. So, if I got an R I'd be getting the Electronics Pack and missing out on the weight loss.
The only thing you left out was "Unique Chassis Tuning" (likely stiffer bushings and more aggressive...
I just did a vin decoder on 1FA6P8JZ1F5520131
and it came back with a build date of 7/29/15.
Cool!

The NASA American Iron track record at Grattan is 1:25.2 and was set in 2011. I don't think NASA has raced there in a couple years and the cars have gotten faster. AIX record is 1:21.7 set the same weekend. BOTH were in Mustangs.
Just to put this in perspective...
AI power to weight is about...
It works for me ONLY if I use zip 77339.
...and when I say, "it works", I mean it lets me in. Most of the colors and other option buttons don't work yet. (firefox)
Has anyone seen actual lap times in (pre-)production NON-prototype cars with the stock equipment?
The Multimatic cars don't count since they had to change out all the important bits (shocks, springs, wheels, tires, etc) of the car.
With this come from the magazine road tests first?
