  1. Base GT track day limits

Thanks, I forgot about the effects of altitude, I was primarily worried about heat in the summer. And I had previously read about people using water wetter but since forgot, so thanks. I see the Motul has a dry boiling point of 312C, wow . It's crazy because these cars have better fluid and...
  2. Base GT track day limits

Thank you, great info in that thread.
  3. Base GT track day limits

Thank you very much! I believe there is a trans temp gauge, but no oil temp. Yes, I did see that sticky thread, full of great information.
  4. Helmets for glasses

Ok thanks, I'll give that a shot.
  5. Helmets for glasses

Great, thanks. I want to get an SA rated helmet if I'm going to spend the money, but there aren't any places in Utah that stock any.
  6. Base GT track day limits

    No PP unfortunately.
  7. Base GT track day limits

Thanks, no apologies necessary, I appreciate all the advice. The track does give you a safety inspection checklist that covers everything you mentioned. I will definitely try to keep my car in proper shape and not push the limits. I do live in a cold climate, and this track also has an...
  8. Base GT track day limits

At least I know to be watchful of this, hopefully it won't catch me off guard. I certainly understand that the amount of energy is the same, and spreading it out should give it more time to dissipate. How does this compare to driving down a mountain though, where they tell you not to brake...
  9. Base GT track day limits

Thanks. I am trying to work up to the limits slowly so I can learn where they are before it becomes a serious problem. Hopefully soon I'll know how much I want to pursue this. Fortunately this track is actually very forgiving, very few spots where there are barriers, but I still don't want to...
  10. Base GT track day limits

Ok thanks, hopefully I won't get to that point!
  11. Base GT track day limits

Thank you. At this point I am stuck with what I have, save possibly upgrading the brakes, so will have to limit my track time accordingly. I will be grateful for what I can get. I don't have the time for much anyway. But I will certainly take breaks as soon as I know I'm near the limits, and...
  12. Helmets for glasses

I was planning on getting an open faced helmet as I usually wear glasses, but most here recommend a full face one for safety. I don't plan on doing any actual racing, and am strictly a novice driver, but does anyone have a full face recommendation with a large eye port that works well with glasses?
  13. Base GT track day limits

Thanks for your comments. Yikes, thanks. I need to learn how to distinguish between pad fade and fluid boiling. And what smell is what. Ok good to know.
  14. Base GT track day limits

Thanks, that's what I was thinking and doing so far. Ok good, thanks. I will probably try everything off while I'm still going slow to better learn it, but good to know. Oh rats, good to know. Looks like they have 75W-85 stock? I will probably put the heat shield on the exhaust, and...
  15. Base GT track day limits

20 years ago I had a Porsche that I took to the track once (Willow Springs). I probably had performance pads and decent fluid but other than that didn't do anything and didn't have any issues. My wife got me an exotic car track experience last year and I got the bug again. I was looking for...
  16. Track Review - 2.3 High Performance v 5.0 GT

Good idea. To me if they aren't on the same tires the comparison is meaningless.
